Walmart pulls...

Walmart has pulled all their Castaways,ID's and who knows what else...
I guess they did this in favor of the pan and scams coming out..

This pisses me off cause I wanted to buy both of these for only 14.44

This is so sad :(. I guess Wal-Mart is catering to the "joe six pack" crowds by doing this. Why noy cater to both widescreen and pan/scan people? Is that too much for them to do? Did yoy see the current Wal-Mart promotional ad for for A.I? It is pan/scan! Yuck! Thank Goodness I do not get that many DVD's from them as my local Wal-Mart's DVD selection is pretty pathetic!

I thought that they have always catered to those type of people, maybe that's why they're always next to trailer parks!

Now that's not true. When is the last time you heard of a tornado hitting a Walmart? :p
<P>Politely make sure that you let the manager of the store or at least the department know that you will not buy pan and scan titles and will spend your money elsewhere. While they may not be able to make the decision to correct this poor judgment, they will pass it along if they hear this enough.

Walmart managers don't pass things along...

Sorry, forgot that "Walmart manager" is an oxymoron!

Aren't these the titles that are going out-of-print in favor of single-disc (but still widesceeen) versions? If this is the case, then Walmart may still stock the widescreen signle-disc version.

I believe that is correct. Castaway and Independence Day (along with Blade) are being "re-released" on 3/5 with a $19.99MSRP.

All are going to be on sale at Best Buy for $12.99 next week.

In my area they are next to apartments. senior apartments and Fairfield's CA is out in the middle of nowhere(all right a business office complex) but's nowhere near any residents!

I often think that Wal-Mart managers do not even exist. If they did, they should listen to the people who post here!Besides I never seem to be able to find them anywhere when my family goes there to shop. What's ironic is you can get a hold of a manger at my job a lot more easier!

Wal-Mart managers are like the Yeti, Bigfoot, and Loch Ness Monster. Their existence has yet to be confirmed by science.

I was wondering about this, because shortly down the road these will be released as pan and scans also. So will Walmart carry the WS for now and dump it later? Or will they just wait? Why do I care? I own the 2-discs and wouldn't have it any other way!

Slightly off topic

Not all Wal Mart clerks just cater to the Joe Six Pack crowd. When I first got my DVD player, I had no idea that pan and scams were sold separately from widescreen releases. I had always thought you had both formats on the same disc no matter what. So I got the Mummy for a Christmas present, open it up and pop it in, and much to my dismay, I discover it's pan and scam.

I immediately took it to Wal Mart and asked if I could exchange it for a widescreen version. Incedibly, I got NO STATIC. No questions asked. The clerk actually understood my delimma. But, sadly, those clerks are rare and far between all the ones who just don't get widescreen.

So does that mean if we find any of the 2 disc versions around at BB next week we can make a scene and get them for $12.99? ;)
