Buy.com Spam

In recent months I have started to receive more and more email from Buy.com,
touting their latest great deal (no coupons).

It used to be one or two per month which was fine. I've already gotten 3 this week.
Just went to Edit + Message Filter in Netscape and created a filter to push everything
with "buy.com" into the Trash bin.

I was wondering how much mail others are getting from Buy. And other
online stores.

You can opt out of the Buy.com spam -- which I agree was getting annoying until I opted out -- by following the instructions at the end of the e-mail.

Good point.

But if you opt-out then if, heaven forbid, Buy ever did start
doling out coupons you'd be hosed. By having it routed to Trash, I can
always take a peek if I hear that they are handing out goodies.

Buy.com has never given out coupons other than ones that everybody can use (i.e., they don't have one-time use coupons). When/if they ever decide to restart mailing coupon codes, you can bet this info will be immediately posted in DVDTalk's DVD Bargains forum.

What ever happened to those "good" Buy.com coupons--you know, $30 off a $150 purchase (in-stock or pre-order, no difference)

Now, Buy's coupons are just ridiculous. The latest example is $10 off of a $100 purchase of Buena Vista/Disney titles (all in-stock, of course!) What a deal!

I did a cost comparison between Buy.com and my vendor of choice these days, Deep Discount. On 5 titles that I picked at random (totalled $101), Buy com would have been about $6 higher--even WITH the coupon!

If Buy.com wants to keep my business, they are going to have to try harder with those coupons
