Open Your Eyes DVD sells for $91 on eBay

Here ya go

It's bound to be that this bidder thinks this is a DVD for Vanilla Sky already... I can see how if you know zilch about DVDs or what's out, the description could be misleading (and it looks like the seller surely did that on purpose).

Of interesting note, most of the other Open Your Eyes DVDs on eBay are going for about $20+... and it's available from DDD for $9.90 w/o a shipping charge. Of course, I was only looking b/c DDD's been out of stock since I can remember - anyone gotten one from them lately?

Man, I can't believe that. I almost want to email the bidder and inform him about DVD price searches.

If the buyer thinks they're buying Vanilla Sky then they deserve to be out $91.00 as it's very easy to see from the auction that it's Open Your Eyes. 3 pics of the box, a cast list, etc.. The only thing mentioning Vanilla Sky is the blurb at the bottom stating that VS is a remake of this movie.

The title of the auction not only mentions Vanilla Sky, but also Tom Cruise.

Still, I agree, it should be obvious that Vanilla Sky is NOT what's being sold here.

Interestingly, the bidder won another auction of this DVD yesterday, for $41.

I know business is business, but this is just sad! Can you imagine the disappointment on the faces of the people this guy dupes?!?

I checked again, and of course you're right. I tend not notice the ebay titles unless I'm actually searching for something. Still, it's pretty obvious that it's not Vanilla Sky.

Bah, mine only sold for $30. I've been thinking of buying some more copies, though.

I don't think the seller is duping anyone, it's pretty obvious what he is selling, and it's not Vanilla Sky. If someone knows about Ebay I would assume they also know about Amazon. But people pay enormous amounts of money for dvd's on Ebay when they could just go to Amazon and buy it a lot cheaper.

As this has turned into more of a discussion on seller ethics and eBay, moving to the Store forum.

I've been buying/selling on eBay for about 3 years and I've learned that there are a lot of dummies (that's the least offensive word I could think of) out there. If they don't take the time to read the whole description or do a little research before they're slamming on the bid button then it's the buyer's fault, not the seller's.

My first moved thread! Hmm... I don't think I've ever even been to the store forum before. This could open up a whole new world.

Of course if you're paying that much money for a common DVD, you probably have money to burn

Have you looked at what else the buyer has bid on?

http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...pleted=1&all=1

In just December and January, he has won approximately 215 DVDs, a DVD Recorder, and a bunch of Harley Davidson merchandise.

Plus, he doesn't care how high he bids. He has won 38 auctions, lost one.

It looks like he is trying to set up a business of some kind.

I think my signature line pretty much sums up my comment about this.

the bidder knows its only the box, why the hell would he bid $366 for it? I have the urge to e-mail the X-Box box guy and the Open Your Eyes guy and just call them stupid.

I'd assume so. He's been a member since 1998, and has over 100 feedback. Also, notice how neither the buyer or the seller left feedback. Makes you wonder what actually went down
