Best store for Asian movies?
Greetings, cyber-creatures!
Quick question for ya. I want to buy the DVD of an HK movie as a Christmas present for a friend -- yes, I am woefully late on the gift exchange front -- and wanted to elicit an opinion from TWAITK (Those Who Are In The Know).
Any recommendations on a good reliable Asian DVD distributor?
As this is an Xmas gift (and a late one at that), I'm worried about buying something and getting: a) a bootleg, b) a defective product, or c) a disc that looks like it was used as a coaster at some recent Alpha Omega Male frat party. You know what I mean?
(BTW, the two DVD's I'm lookin' to buy are "Bakery Amour" and the Korean flick "Bichunmoo" in case this makes any difference.)
Thanks for contemplating this post.
Happy holidays!

Sleepygirl, please define "Asian" flicks.
I myself have had terrific results with HKFLIX.com as well as POKERINDUSTRIES.com. both of which can be linked to through DVDTALK and very offen provide our members with great discounts.
If it is a hard to find DVD, Scarecrow.com claims to be able to getting anything if it exists. Their prices are high but you're paying for their searching / acquisition capabilities.
Please e-mail if you need further help and I'm sure other DVDTalkers will assist when they wake up.

Asian DVD stores
Poker Industries and HKFlix are both fine stores but they're domestic and offer prices much higher than those you'd get from Hong Kong-based stores. One thing you might consider is going to the International forum where they list many reputable places. Many people (myself included) have ordered stuff from places like DDDHouse (www.dddhouse.com) or HiViZone (www.hivizone.com). One word. Orders will take a while. Also before you purchase, figure in your shipping and compare it to Poker and HKFlix prices. Sometimes the difference is only a couple bucks.
To convert from HK dollars to US dollars I recommend XE.com (www.XE.com)
Good luck.
