A quick Half.com question
OK, so I'm selling something for the first time on Half.com, priced it at $120, fine and dandy. Now I just got an order confirmation email that says someone purchased it for $97! Huh? Did I miss something? How does this happen? You can't make bids on half.com can you? Should I cancel this order? Am I misunderstanding? Help would be mighty appreciated, god knows you can't get help from half.com :D

I have it priced at $120. The order says shipping reimbursement $1.78, Half.com commission $12.13. That should still be almost $110. Does Half.com take off an ADDITIONAL 15%, on top of their commission??

Half.com has bands for their commission. Under $50, it's 15%, but if you're pricing an item over $100, they should only take out 10% for commission.
I don't know why the e-mail from half.com says you are only getting $97. Check your account on the website and look under sales. See what it says should be credited toyour account. If it's still the $97, I don't know if I would confirm it. However, if you cancel an item, a buyer can leave you bad feedback. |

But I don't understand how it got from $120 to $97 in the first place!!! |
The Amount says $97, the To be credited to your account says $86.65. $97 - $12.13 commission + $1.78 shipping reimbursement = $86.65. But I don't understand how it got from $120 to $97 in the first place!!! |
Thanks for all the feedback - I still don't get how it went from $120 to $97 in the first place!!!

Are you going to call them? I have to call them today myself. I sent my son a gift certificate that refuses to work. Emailing them is worthless. They take a good six days to get back to you then they give you no help. The last email I got from them the guy actually accused me of giving the gift certificate away to someone else to use. All I want is my money back and cancel the gc. Wish me luck, I wish you the same. You've been ripped off worse than me. I'm only out ten dollars.

I just called and while the customer service is extremely polite the issue wasn't resolved exactly. Seems the problem is with webcertificate. He said that there has to be the full amount of the purchase price available in the webcertificate amount without the gc being applied. In other words Alex (my son) had 6.25 in his account. With the gc his total should have been 6.01 but was refused by the webcertificate because they tried to authorize 16.01. Joe (csr) said that they always process it that way and then credit your account the gift certificate. I told him I would just have Alex find something that cost the ten dollars without billing the card. I asked if I could send him another gc so he'd have enough money but Joe said that gcs cannot be combined. At least I have an explanation of what happened. That's the last time I purchase a gc from them.
