Heads-Up for those who bought The Godfather at Amazon

I hope this was just an isolated problem I had, but in case it's not, you all should be aware. Here is my statement from Amazon this morning:

Payment Information
Item(s) Subtotal:: $74.95

Shipping & Handling:$2.98
Share the Love:-$7.50

Promotional Certificates:-$10.00

Total Before Tax:$60.43
Estimated Tax:$0.00

Grand Total for This Order$60.43

----
Item(s) Subtotal:$74.95

Shipping & Handling:$2.98

Total Before Tax:$77.93
Tax:$0.00

Total paid by XXXXX: $77.93
-----
So it seems that they very nicely ignored all the promotional certificates and just charged full price (+S&H). One call to a CSR took care of it, though. Just thought people should check their account status to see if anyone else got an unpleasent surprise.

Yep.. I have the same problem.

After coupon and other discounts, I should have been charged $57.90

I was instead charged $79.91.

I sent an email to amazon last night and received my reply this morning apologizing for the mix up and stating that they would immedieatly send a credit for the difference.

So, for all those that ordered through amazon, check your shipping confirmation and original order confirmation and send a polite email if there is a difference. It sounds like they are working quick on these. Usually replies to email sent to customer service take 24-48 hours. My reply came in about 9 hours.

This has been a common occurrence as of late with orders involving promotional certificates... See this thread in the Store forum for more stories of overcharges: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...ighlight=amazo

DisneyStore.com ignored my $4 coupon for Snow White too. An email later, they debited my credit card. Seems like they are doing it on purpose to dupe people not paying attention.

Since they refuse to ship anything even slightly ahead of time, I cancelled my order last Friday......

This is OT but...

Disneystore.com did the same to me. I guess I will e-mail them as well.

I had a Godfather and Benny Hill combined to use a $20.00 of $100.00 coupon. They did not credit the coupon. This is the third order in a row that they have done this to me. Unkindest cut of all, they did it on a $10.00 anniversery coupon. On each of the previous ones I have gotten the refunds, some times after two or three follow-up calls to customer service. On each occasion, I have pointed out that I have orders in the pipeline using coupons, and asked them to take steps to prevent a reoccurence of the problem. But no, they would rather make the customer be vigilant, have to do a lot of follow-up, and be on guard to make sure they post the refund, and also do a lot of extra processing at their accounts payable dept. instead of doing it right the first time.

Five of my last six orders from Amazon have been mishandled in one fashion or an other. It is apparent that they don't give any
consideration to providing a satisfactory shopping experience to their lifeblood(We consumers). Therefore I have made my last purchase from them. Imagine if you walked into a store with a discount coupon, made a purchase, and the clerk told you I have to charge you full price, and you will have to follow up with us later to get the instant coupon credit. This is what Amazon did to me on my last three orders. I think they will go under soon. I have bought a lot from them in the past year, and there transaction processing has been getting worse and worse. Alienate repeat customers like me, and you go under.

Thanks for the heads up.
I checked and coupon was not applied to my two latest shipments.

Me too.

When Amazon sent me their shipping confirmation I also noticed that they had ignored the promotional coupon.

I found the Amazon customer service number in the DVDTalk storeforum customer service number thread and called. A customer service rep apologized profusely and said they would fix it with a refund.
Hopefully that's all it takes to fix this.

Ditto here. Had to call customer service for not only my Godfather order (with other stuff to get the order total over $100) but also for my FE Superbit & Citzen Kane order. All total they overcharged me $56. One call to Cust. service hadled it.

However, I, too am going back to check recent Amazon orders to make sure I was charged right. What a mess.

There does not appear to be a pattern to this...

I've had no problem

Item Subtotal: $64.95 (STL Price Correction)
Shipping & Handling: $2.98
Promotional Certificate: $25.00 (OFOTO)
Total: $42.93
Paid by Credit Card: $17.93
Paid by Gift Certificate: $25.00 (Vividence)

Please use the existing thread ("Changing Amazon Order Totals") to continue this discussion.

Thanks. (And thanks to adboy151 for finding the existing thread.)

Closing.
