Hollywood video, keepcases, and snappers

The Hollywood I work at has recently switched to renting out all titles in locked cases with the original coverart (as opposed to the old slips with the movie title on them).

Snappers don't fit in our cases (size and shape of your average keepcase), so they were cut to fit (And, really, what they did to the Unbreakable covers was just not good). Not all stores have switched the way they display rental titles (I think there were something like 5 stores in the state I live in that have), so I was wondering how long until someone realized that you couldn't sell people PV'd DVDs in cases that had been cut to pieces.

So, here's the weird thing: Recent 'snapper' titles (Like Driven) have arrived with covers appropriate for a keepcase. I have no idea how they got them (titles arrive via UPS pretty much ready to be shelved), but Hollywood Video appears to be getting conversions for all the major snapper titles.

Are any other rental places getting these? Additionally, is it possible to acquire these direct from Warner? Has anyone else seen these?

I thought it was funny that the Driven I bought a few weeks ago didn't come in a Snapper. I was scared that it was some wal-mart version with stuff cut out after I realized it was supposed to be a snapper. God Bless Hollywood Video if this changes them for good eventually.

i'm thinking since you work there, you might be in a better position to find out more about this then most people here. my local hollywood has done this for about half of all the dvds on the new release wall. I saw a badly butchered snapper case, but even more i see that they have taken to writing a number with a marker on the insert. i guess the number is their stock code or something. was wondering how they expect to sell them used but since i've never bought a dvd there i'm not too concerned. the still have the mummy UE for 27.99. some how i doubt warner will make regular inserts for sale to the regular public. but it might be worth asking hollywood if they would order one and sell it to you. i'd pay a buck or two for it.
