Swordfish being "labeled" by Blockbuster

For those who haven't heard, Blockbuster is going to place a label on the upcoming release of "Swordfish." The label will read, "In light of the events of September 11, please note that this product contains scenes that may be disturbing to some viewers." Now, keep in mind, that Blockbuster has not announced any plans to label ANY other movie!?!? This seems like Blockbuster getting back at Warner for pricing Swordfish as a sell-through. Also, doesn't it seem a little sad that Blockbuster is using the 9-11 attacks as a scapegoat for their retaliation? What do you guys think?

At least they're not banning it or promoting a 'family safe' version.

Of all of BB's offenses, this one is pretty light. Considering their usual response is to either slice or just not carry, this is a step in the right direction IMHO.

I think DVDfile commented on this also, and pointed out how it may increase rentals among the more morbid or whathaveyou. Sorta like studios putting swear words in G films to make them PG and thus more likely to sell, people seem to be interested in what they're not supposed to see.

Slightly OT, isn't this Read a Banned Book month?

It'll probably boost rentals/sales, just like "Explicit Lyrics" warnings don't really seem to hurt CD sales. :)

Warning labels are okay. Editing content is not. Let Blockbuster put labels on every action movie ever made, I don't care. Then again, I won't go to Blockbuster unless they are running a PV DVD sale.

Although I don't live in America, that's okay by me. In fact, I'm pretty sure the label will only increase sales/rentals for Swordfish...

My thoughts exactly. A mint PV CTHD for $9 was nice. I go into BB once a month to peruse their PVs but I would never ever rent from them. Hell, I hardly rent at all.

I think they should put a warning lable on it that says

WARNING: this movie contains scenes of Halle Berry's naked breasts

watch the sales go through the roof...

Explisit Lyrics... I am in!

What about....

Well, by that logic, BB should also label "Fight Club." Remember the closing scene?
