Would you order from a online store without a phone #?
Explain why or why not? Just curious, because I found a couple stores that don't, which look like clean sites.

Why not? Because it's alot easier too call and get a problem resolved over the phone rather than thru email. As was with a bye.com order that took forever with email. I will only order from a site with a phone number.

I've found that some sites that don't have numbers posted on their site, DO have phone numbers, it just takes a little digging to find them. Like buy.com... they pulled their number off their site months ago, but if you do a search here, you'll find a thread where someone posted their new number.
I've also found amazon's # around the holidays last year when they pulled their number off their site and wanted everyone to email customer service instead... I went to bizrate.com and looked up the profile for amazon and there was the # at the bottom!
It really depends on the site and how popular they are. I still order from buy.com although they don't have their number on their site.. yeah, I know it's a risk being they're not doing so well, but if i don't get the product, I'll just dispute any charges.. but mostly they don't charge your card until your order ships anyway...
Just my $.02...

Maybe, provided e-mail accounts is checked frequently
Case in point, I have recently discovered that DVD Planet really serves my needs. They do have Phone number and though web site does not have all order statuses. With one e-mail (normally responded in a couple of hours), I can have statuses and issues (slightly overcharge regular price instead of pre-order) resolved on timely fashion.

Any decent online retailer should have a customer service phone number. Without a number to talk to the CSR directly, it is troublesome and time consuming to resolve problem through email. You may not get a reply back until a couple of days later.

Sure, why not? If they have something I want at a great price that can't be found anywhere else I'll order it. Honestly, I generally don't go searching for contact info before I order something, so it doesn't even come into the equation.
Aside from poor selection/prices I won't buy at a website if:
- I think I could do a better job making the site
- There's too much java used on the site
- They use Flash on the site
- Typos or misspellings on the site
- Misaligned site
In otherwords, if it's so amateurish it hurts, I stay away!
