Orderbox - 25% off at amazon and $.01 shipping

Update as of 8/27.

(deleted due to orderbox changing their minds. See my post later on for details of what was going on.)

-----------

From another forum:

http://www.orderbox.com/

Has $100 credit for signing up for an account. The credit works as 25% off purchases at participating vendors(including Amazon) until you run out of your $100. However, I have been told by support that it will just be 25% off until the end of the year because of some glitches. Also, shipping for DVDs is $0.01.

Notes:
I haven't received anything I ordered yet, so I cannot vouch for the company.
You are actually purchasing from orderbox, so you can't use coupons.
It is a subscription service with a free 30-day trial

I have saved quite a bit on my orders so far, so this looks to be a good deal. Be careful though, if you preorder, then cancel your account, your order will be canceled.

Yes, and don't forget about dvdexpress.com , that changed quite a while back as well. Not too sure about this place.

Nope. Like I said, your purchase is from orderbox. They turn around and buy in bulk from amazon(according to their site).

I only ordered yesterday, so as I said, I haven't gotten anything yet, and the charge hasn't hit my card yet, so I can't verify they charged me the correct amount. However, if this is legit, it seems to be a pretty good deal.

To test out the service i just ordered Stargate Season 1 DVD set through them using Buy.com since its in stock and should ship soon which comes out to 35.42 after there normal discount, the extra 25% offer which as said will run till Dec 31 2001 and includes 1 cent shipping(for now). If this thing is for real this is some deal as it would be 60% off the list price. I hope it is good because they will get my orders for sure and i would spend $3 a month since i would save a lot more

If you are going to try make sure you check prices at amazon and buy.com for the best deal.

Hmm...when I look it shows $47. Is that for the Gift pack, or is there a different one that you got?

So is it 25% unlimited or 25% off up to $100? If you buy $1000 item will you get $250 off?

I believe the most you can do is 25% off $100 item from the way its describes on there site. So any item $100 or over you only get $25 off.

I got the Stargate price because the member price is $47.74 which is there regular discount price. then take 25% off that and it ends up at the price i posted.

Like i said. If people want to be safe just wait and ill see what happens with my order and ill post here how it goes.

One more thing. Reel.com is on there because it links to buy.com and dvd express just changed ownership so hopefully it will get back up and running.

I used their live chat and asked the Customer Service rep what the discounts are one you use up the free $100, and she told me that then the discounts go down to 5-15% off....so not much better that eb*tes...

So it might be better just to cancel after you use up the free $100....

Actually, I'm pretty sure the "Members price" reflects the 25% off. I ordered a $25 DVD, and the member's price was 19, which is what I was charged.

As for the max off, here's how I understand it:

Books, DVDs, and CDs are 25% off through the end of the year. Anything else they suggest a bid, usually less than 25% off. If their distributor accepts your bid, you get it. If not, you can go try a higher bid. That's why this deal is best for DVDs, etc. It's a guaranteed 25% off and almost free shipping.

My first DVD is supposedly in the mail, so I should get it by the end of next week.

Well I just placed a test order a little over 12 hours ago for Antonioni's Le Amiche at buy.com... The "offer" is $14.62 shipped (using the .01 shipping deal). That is a very good price indeed. Now however it is still in a "processing" mode and hasn't been confirmed yet. I also was going to place preorders for Godard's three films that are releasing in October (11.99 each with orderbox) but I wasn't sure then how preorders would be handled if I cancel the acct before then.

My order was "processing" for several days. It appears they don't charge you until they receive the DVD. That seems fair enough.

Someone on anandtech asked about the preorders, and was told any outstanding orders when you cancel membership will be cancelled. That's why I did'n order Shrek yet. If my forst order goes ok, I may pay the $3 a month through the end of the year, since I'll save a lot more.

I thought I should drop some insights in regards to Order Box. I joined it about a month
ago and cancelled their services 3 weeks after joining because I did not want to pay the
monthly charge for a service which although sounds good just did not work.
I placed a number of orders(preorders) from CD NOW etc. and I waited and waited and
waited and not 1 processed. How the system works is you put items in your cart and
then it goes into a offer or bid process. I did this for 3 weeks and thank god I did not
cancel my orders at CD NOW, Amazon etc.
If it works for you then fine but it never worked for me. The price sounds good and a
100.00 credit sounds good if you can get the offer or bids to be accepted. I tried once
putting an offer for an item that was in stock and not preorders and still it didn't work
and thus I reluctantly cancelled.
Good Luck and hope you'll be much more successfull than me.

confusion about orderbox

I signed up for the trial offer & got the $100 credit. My 1st offer was declined; I've since placed 2 other bids, still pending. My balance, though, has been reduced by the amount of all bids, irrespective of whether they've come through or not. Does anyone know if the balance is replenished when a bid is unsuccessful, or is that credit simply gone?

I was told that because of problems on their end, they were disregarding the balance and just giving 25% off through the end of the year. That was from someone on their online help.

I'm just curious but your order which was accepted and delivered to you, was it for 25%. The reason why I'm asking is all the orders that I put offers for was a cd now, buy.com etc. all the bids had no response. I appreciate any answer. Thank you.

Just signed up, and placed an order for the following.

Chasing Amy CC $14.96
Rush Hour $11.21
House $14.24
Princess Bride SE $15.74
Neverending Story $10.49
Memento $11.24
Blow $12.71

These price are after the 25% discount, which is a sweet deal if these actually come through. Worth a shot.

Make an offer?

I assume that the "make an offer" price is BEFORE the 25% off? Can someone verify this please?

Thanks,
Steak

Hmm, placed a bid on 5 items. Hoping that they go through.
*keeps fingers crossed*

Update: 4 out of 5 were accepted. But the 5th one is no where to be found on my account. Is this their way of saying I was rejected for the bid? Cuz I don't want to bid again and risk getting 2 charges on my CC......

Some nice deals IMO:

Perfect Blue: $13.49
Immortal Beloved: $11.15
Robotech Box Sets: $22.34
Elizabeth: $9.37
The Beach: $9.74

This place's CS is excellent! You can use that OrderBox Live option and they answer your questions in about 5 minutes personally. Very nice.
