So what the hell am I paying 18.44$ for? Do they realize that just by that they are forcing me to pay custom charges? I sent an Email and I sure as hell am not paying money for a DVD which is supposed to be free. If they say I have to pay, should I contest with my CC company and refuse to pay or should I just send it back and tell my CC company to reverse the charges?

Believe me, you are not alone.

I've paid for orders by GC before and when you do they don't even ask for a CC. I'd check with your CC's on file at amazon and see if any of them were charged the $18. If not, it's probably just a typo or a computer error. I'm sure if you call and talk to a CSR they'll take care of it for you. If they did charge your CC, they should toss ya a $10 promo cert for your trouble! :D

Dang, that sucks! Go kick some amazon booty and give their CSR's a nice call after a nice hour wait on hold.

From what's going on at Amazon lately, it's not a computer error. I just got a final email that Amazon will not refund the $30 overcharge they made to my CC (essentially the exact same thing Feneant just experienced), and notifying me that, if I dispute the charge, they will close down my account.

Let's close them down, don't buy anything unless you have a GC.

To update as well, my balance on Amazon is 1.56 meaning that if they do not apply my gift certificate to this order, I have lost it.

BUT! I just checked my Visa account and Amazon has not billed me a cent so it might just be an error on their part in the second Email so I am not worried yet... but I'm keeping an eye on my account.

This is why when I purchase items online, I use my mastercard's Shopsafe service which generates a seperate account number for each transaction with a specific limit and expiration date. So if this happens and they try to charge one of the card #'s on file, it'll get declined since most only have like $2 to $3 available on them! :D

WTF!!! I had a $5.32 promo balance with them and it is now gone!!! Gone! How does a balance disappear. If they are gonna do this jack to me then just give me a $20 GC and not a $25 GC. I'm calling them now and if they give me any lip.

I gotme reply... they didnt charge me after all :)
