Blockbuster DVD return

I thought I got lucky today and bought CTHD for $9.99 minus a $5 gift card= 'bout $5.74. But when I open the box, the DVD is covered with that hideous Blockbuster sticker, ughhhh!!

Im planning on returning it tonight or tommorow. But what is thier return policy? Does it have to be defective?

And about the gift card, I payed $5 and some change. If I get my money back, will I get my my money back and the amount of my GC?

thanks

First, always check DVDs before you actually pay for them. If it is scratched very badly, you don't have to mess with it (you can decline to buy it). If you had done this you would have seen the sticker and could have not bought it.

Second, assuming that the disk plays fine, does the sticker really matter? You bought a used DVD so you knew that it most likely wasn't in pristine condition. That is, when you buy used DVDs from Blockbuster, you are buying them to watch them, not to put them in a display case of a museum. And the price reflects that.

True, I don't like stickers either and probably wouldn't have bought it in the first place (I do buy some used DVDs from Blockbuster, but I always check them first), but since you already have it, and if it plays fine, I'd say keep it (or watch it a few times then sell it on ebay (though tell the buyers that it has a sticker)).

As far as their policy goes, it has to be defective.

It doesn't have to be defective to return it, but you need you receit and you can only exchange it not get a refund.
Or if you rent there you can just ask for a store credit and the just put it on your account.

thanks yall. I didnt really get a chance to check it, I should of though. It was in a plastic case and the only way to check it was after you take it to the counter.

I didnt think there would be a sticker cause most of the BBusters I go to doesnt place stickers on DVDs, this one unfortunately did. Im thinking about keeping it cause I just wanna watch it, but nah.....I might as well return it.

But how about the whole GC thing? will I still be able to get the GC $$$ back, or just the amount I payed with cash?

They should give you a full refund in cash.

As far as checking a dvd before you buy it, I just open them in the store before going to the counter. Never had a complaint yet for doing this (I open almost anything I buy before purchasing it).... If I dont like it I just put it back on the shelf (or if its a used dvd I point out my problem to a staff member)..

The only problem is that most of the time, they have shrink-wrapped them again in prepping them to sell as PVD's. I doubt they would appreciate it if you ripped open all the shrink-wrapping and put them back on the shelf.

Do you break the plastic case that seals the DVDcase, and open the shrinkwrap? I would assume that just doing that in the store without taking it to the counter and opening it prior to purchase would elicit a negative response from the staff.

How exactly do you get through those huge plastic traps they put them in? Your Blockbuster must be different. In addition to the plastic casing, the previewed DVDs are in shrinkwrap. I honestly can't imagine breaking through all that just to see if it's alright or not. They do have a return policy.

I'm assuming you're talking about the small one inch diameter silver blockbuster label that goes around the center hole in the DVD? I've successfully removed this label myself from a couple DVDs. It's really not that bad...
