I was debating about posting this in the DVD Store forum, but it is, after all, no longer a store anymore. Anyway, I believe that tomorrow marks the 1 year anniversary of the death of reel.com....when all outstanding orders were given to buy.com. I used to order from these guys a lot and had
fond memories of their coupons and excellent service.
Anyone recall any fond memories?

RIP Reel.com

Remember them well! (Unfortunately they still owe me money.) They started many of us on the road to DVD addiction...

Those last few days of Reel.com with all those $10 codes floating around were awesome!

Looks like you had no choice, the local dictator seems to have helped you make up your mind.

I remember that reel shipped a dvd when i cancelled my cc before. So they asked me to provide another form of payment even though I laready received my dvd. Called them up and paid the day or day before they went out of business and it didn't sound like a happy place to be working at when i called.

I miss that trivia game and all those coupons too. Though at least they left me with $100 of stackable buy.com gift certificates when they were closed down.

They pretty much got me started on my addiction. They had some great prices and coupons. Those were the days.

Yeah it was awesome while it lasted. All of the $10 off $25 coupons and 40% off preorders. Remember all of the sale DVDs that were like $12.99 and $14.99 and you could get them for $4.99 or so shipped with a trivia coupon?

The thing I miss the most about reel (aside from the prices and coupons) is their online Customer service - much better than having to spend a small fortune on making a long distance call to listen to half an hour of musak whiile on hold...

The thing I miss the least about them is that I ended up contacting their CS on a fairly regular basis - shipping delays and back orders were the most common complaint - far more often than I have with any other e-tailer since their demise.

Hemulen

(oh, and the trivia was also fun in and of itself, as well as being "profitable")
