Wow! I received CTHD from Amazon this morning.

Among my 20+ orders with Amazon, this was the second time I received DVD on its street date. Amazon seems to be improving in shipping out pre-orders. I remember it used to start shipping pre-orders on Monday. Now it seems to start shipping on Sunday for my last 2-3 pre-orders. So I received them all on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Wow, I've never received one before Thursday.

I received CTHD from amazon today too. The past few months they have been getting better at shipping before the street date, at least to me they have.

My two seperate orders (cannot be combined due to promotional coupons) that are scheduled to ship on June 5th are each being held up by one disk that apparently hasn't arrived yet. One is being held up <I>Escaflowne #8: Forever and Ever</I> (due in 2-3 days), while the other is being held up by <I>Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo #6: For All Mankind</I> (due in 4-6 weeks). Both had street days of June 5th.

Just add the item to the order and delete the other item. Then do the same on the other order. As long as you place an order without a coupon and then combine the order right away, you can do it. You will still have 2 orders but at least one should ship the next day. They even shipped it 2 day priority.
At least, that's what happened when I did it.;)

EDITED: Still haven't received this week's pre-orders, so I am bitterly pissed and have decided to update this. Amazon's losin' points now.

I've done 12 pre-orders with Amazon that have been shipped (assuming that The Fugitive SE and the 2 Muppet movies come tomorrow):

4 - Arrived on Tuesday (Release Date)
2 - Arrived on Wednesday (Day after Release)
2 - Arrived on Thursday (2 Days after)
2 - Arrived Friday - Saturday after
1 - Arrived Monday after
1 - Took longer than a week to arrive


So I've got 1/3 of pre-orders on release dates (all were multi-disc sets). 3/4 come within two days of release, but even that can be annoying (as stated I have 3 this week that have not yet arrived). Overall, not as reliable to meet release date as Buy.com, but good enough to continue using. I have Forrest Gump ordered through DeepDiscountDVD, so it will be interesting how close to release I get it with their free shipping.

I'm in NY so I'd assume mileage may vary. Hope Cast Away comes on release date.
