MLB 2022 season, better late than never

Neither is a good reason right in the middle of the pennant race. Especially when you’re in first place.
Sends a bad message to the team and at least one player spoke out publicly about it and a bad message to the fans.

For sure. You’re basically saying “We’re in first place but can’t compete with the big boys, so we won’t optimize our team but instead try to thread the needle to stay in the hunt while also planning for the future.”

On the other hand I do see that since he gave up those two homers to the Phillies for the first runs he gave up in a calendar year he is 2-4 with 4+ era.

The Angels hit seven solo homers today (including two by Ohtani) that accounted for all seven runs they scored. It’s an MLB record.
Oh and they lost (the game and series) to the worst team (for now) in the AL.
The future looks bright!

Kershaw left the game against the Giants in the 5th with back pain. Oh shit!

I believe they are first team to ever to hit 7 solo HRs and lose.

Giants are so bad, they aren’t even playing on a primetime Friday night!

Red Sox release Jackie Bradley Jr. After the Brewers signed him to a (bad) 2/24 contract, the Sox took him back along with a couple prospects in exchange for Hunter Renfroe. Renfroe has hit, JBJ has not, and the prospects are not impressing. But at least the Sox are committing to Jarren “Where’s the Ball?” Duran in CF.

From a competitive standpoint, the trade makes zero sense.

Congratulations on winning the trade deadline Padres. You're now 14.5 games out of First

The Dodgers are really good...and really deep. Though their pitching could become suspect very quickly in the postseason if Buehler doesn't return 100% and Kershaw's back starts acting up.

Re: MLB 2022 season, better late than never
In his penultimate arbitration year, Cody Berlinger has a .646 OPS good for 1.3 bWAR and 1.1 fWAR (including -4.6 offensive WAR). Do they try to trade him for pennies on the dollar this offseason, extend him after 2023, or let him walk?
