Re: Official 2022 NFL Off-Season Thread
Watched the Goodell testimony 'in' Congress earlier today re: the toxic work environment of WTF.
Just makes me shake my head at our government even more. First, that this is any of Congress' business no matter how much I want that asshole Snyder gone. Second, the pure political theatrics of it from both sides. Just all sad.
They intend to subpoena Dan Snyder. Good luck serving that. He's on his yacht (inferior to Jerry's yacht) in the south of France - by the time he gets back and you can possibly serve him, he'll be able to appeal it and run out the clock until the GOP takes control of the House in early January.
Such a waste of time.

Sad to learn about Siragusa and that youngster Ferguson's untimely passings.
I remember when Siragusa did sideline for FOX and he offered a very different perspective compared to what other sideline reporters did.
Not going to speculate about Siragusa's health, but it's sad that anyone dies at such a young age, especially Ferguson who was only 26.

RIP Tony Siragusa
He was a character that is for sure and he appeared in the Sopranos and the 25th Hour the Spike Lee movie too.
It was not a good memory but I remember when he landed on Rich Gannon and broke his shoulder n the 2000 AFC Championship game in Oakland.

The Patriots will bring back the red unis though not sure for which game or games.
They should be the standard unis and not the throwbacks!
Burn those all blue jersey and blues pants unis they have worn since 2020!
Maybe they realized they have not won a Super Bowl since they changed their unis.

I hate the Patriots obviously, but they never won shit wearing the red uniforms (which I do admit, do look better....but maybe I think they look better 'cuz they lost a lot wearing them). I can't imagine them going back to them.

Agree though the red unis look like the Replacements unis worn by Keanu Reeve lol but they are one of the best throwback unis out there.
Now only if the Broncos, Eagles, Lions, 49ers, Bucs, and Falcons could go back to their 1995 unis the world would be a perfect place.

As if the Alex Smith family hasn’t been through enough already. Glad to hear his daughter is doing okay post-surgery.

So Watson has a hearing on Tuesday with the NFL. I read there is some talk of maybe a 1 year suspension. But I don’t see a decision being made for at least a week. But the NFL has a lot of pressure on it to do something.

A MINIMUM of 1 year suspension. But isn’t Watson’s contract structured where he won’t take a financial hit at all even if he loses the whole season?

That's why I am rooting for Commissioner's List this year. He gets paid his tiny salary but can't play.
Bring the hammer down next year when it hurts him in the wallet. Even if it's just 8 games.

He should get 1 game for every woman he has settled with. I wish he'd get permanently banned, but I know that won't happen.

Amazon hiring more TNF analysts. Andrew Whitworth and Aqib Talib. Bezos has an unlimited bank account so he can hire 50 analysts if he wants. Not sure the point of having so many.

15 regular season and 1 preseason it looks like.
Some former colleagues of mine at NFL Network moved over there as well.

I don't see what the big deal is with Aqib Talib and he was nothing special when he did those games with Gus Johnson on FOX.

I’m probably a bit biased with Talib. I’m a fan of his and had the chance to meet him several years ago. He’s a lot more subdued than you would think based on his loud, showy, on-field presence in his playing days. I thought he was very well prepared and succinct during the few games he was an analyst for last season. I think he’s a good get for Amazon.

Marlin Briscoe has passed away.
He became the first Black starting QB in Pro Football History with the Denver Broncos in 1968.
He later switched to WR and played on the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins.

Talib really struggles with the language and using proper grammar, buuuuuut, he's on point and is highly entertaining. I hope every network doesn't try to go down that same road because being distracted by grammatical errors is frustrating and if Talib ever became a bore, I'd likely not want to hear from him anymore.
