could you be more bitter? Bullshit, you and everyone else would be rushing to this thread if the Astros had lost either game. Go Giants

Giants beat Dodgers 4-0. Great pitching by Webb.

Totally missed this one. Thanks to that incredibly long Bond film for making sure I didn't see a single pitch of this game.
Hopefully tomorrow will be more competitive.

Dodgers need to focus on making contact with the ball and stop swinging for the fences every at bat. Especially going up against great pitching.

Fried shut down the Brewers. The Brewers were kind of my sleeper pick for the World Series but I may need to rethink that with their offense. Yelich went from an MVP to just another regular with his back injury. Reminds me of what happened to Don Mattingly in the 80s.

Tom Cruise is in the stands. At first I thought it was an impersonator, but one of my former co workers who works for the Giants tweeted it was him.

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

Good game by Dodgers. This time the mistake was on Dominic Leone not doing his job.

Kapler made the right decision to pull Gausman and replace with Leone. Leone usually gets out of inherited runners on base situations. The biggest fail was walking the first batter and moving a runner to 3rd with less than one out. Now heís in strikeout mode, and since the Dodgers knew that, they could predict the next few pitches would all be in the strike zone. And the rest is history.

Littell and Garcia always give up hits, and in this case runs, so Iím glad they were mop up duty. Never put them in with the lead.

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

Wow, weird play in the top of the 13th when the Rays pound one off the right-field wall, but the ricochet bounces off the Red Sox RF and bounces over the wall. GR double, and the go-ahead run goes back to third.

I don't see how they could rule it like that. Think the Rays were robbed.

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

That was a bullshit play. So now players can almost intentionally knock the ball over the fence on what would be a scoring play and bring the runner from first back to third. Absurd!

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

Yeah, they got rewarded for lame defense. Sox walked it off in the bottom of the inning, but who knows how things would’ve progressed had the run scored.

Why was it “shady”?

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

Wouldn't call it shady but really needs a better rule. Throw from home to first and Grandal hit by ball while in the grass but not interference as the ball came from first instead of being thrown to first. Run scores, sure looks like umpires made the right call based on the rules they need to follow.

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

Oh, I’d read about that play but not seen it. If the rule is on throws to first, then it makes sense. Also, I’m not seeing Grandal deliberately throwing himself into the ball as some people are outraged about.

Crazy that running on the infield grass wouldn't be considered out of the base path.

Anyone remember the 1978 World Series when Reggie Jackson stood (some say moved into) in the way of a throw from Russel to First?

I didnít rush to the thread but I was watching to see how all the ex-Cub Sox pitchers did: Dylan Cease: great stuff but still erratic; Ryan Tepera: great; Kimbrel: spotless out!óweíll see if he can keep it up.

I remember and always thought Reggie did a deliberate hip shimmy into the ball, but the replay shows that his biggest fault was not getting out of the way. I was a kid and likely influenced by the announcer outrage (and I wasnít a fan of the Yankees or Reggie).

Re: 2021 MLB playoffs thread

Wow, intense game 3 for Giants.

Was nervous on every single pitch. Surprised Longoria got the HR.
He didnít have a hit for like 3 weeks.

Brandon Crawford is the MVP!

Itís funny. Astros fans thinking if they win it all, theyíve shown the world they are legit. And Iím sitting here thinking ďhow do we know youíre still not cheating?Ē
