Same thing with Nurcic being undisciplined and fouling out too often and them deadass having the absolute worst defense of any team in the playoffs

Stotts wasn't the only problem with the Blazers but I am not sure what would have been the justification for keeping him when he wasn't cutting it.
Didn‘t the GM call Anfernee Simons “the most talented player I’ve ever drafted”? I thought he showed some flashes in the playoffs but have no idea how close he is to being a major contributor.

I think he's a ways off. Seems like a good kid though.

So Dame says he wants Kidd. And Kidd says today no thanks, not even going to interview. That’s gotta be a slap in the face unless Kidd has been promised the Lakers job or something.

Forget it Jake, it's Portland-town.

I hope Kidd isn’t holding out for Boston and their two young wings. Or if he is, I hope they reject him.

Pacers coach got canned, as expected. Only 1 year. Oof.

I want Kobe to be the only Laker with two numbers retired. I wonder what happens when LeBron hangs it up now.

As things are today, I don't see why LeBron would have any number retired with the Lakers. #6 with the Heat makes sense.

I didn’t really follow the Pacers, but weren’t they ravaged by injuries. TJ Warren, who was like Kobe Bryant in the bubble, was out pretty much the entire year.

His number 100% is gonna be retired. The owner of the team called him one of the five greatest Lakers ever.
And he's the second-best player of all time, and also won a title for the franchise. That precedent has already clearly been set by Wilt Chamberlain who had a better career on two other teams but ended his career with the Lakers, won a Championship for L.A. and was the third Laker to have his number retired.

I know it's going to happen but it's still stupid. One ring where he wasn't the best player on the team doesn't = getting your number retired in any other situation.

And I know Jeanie said it but LeBron being a top 5 Laker is hilariously incorrect. Unless your metric is just best overall players who wore the jersey, regardless of the years actually on the Lakers.

As great as AD is, I think Lebron is still the best player on the Lakers. Not to mention, AD wouldn't be there, and the Lakers wouldn't have won last year, without Lebron.

They still had a good team without Warren. And there were rumblings throughout the year that the coach was not connecting with the team, and that they didn't like him.

I know why Bjorkgren was hired. He won a title working for Nick Nurse and some thought he was an up and coming coach. It's a shame to see a rookie coach be a bust in only 1 year.

Like I said, the comparison with Wilt is pretty uncanny as far as the situation goes. Third team, third best team, one championship. Considered maybe the second or third greatest player in the history of the game at that time.

And I know Jeanie said it but LeBron being a top 5 Laker is hilariously incorrect. Unless your metric is just best overall players who wore the jersey, regardless of the years actually on the Lakers.
Yeah, no need to rehash what an awful take that was. I only mention it because she owns the team and we see how highly she thinks of LeBron as a Laker.

Totally agree. He should not have any number retired as a Laker. If the Cavs and Heat want to retire his number, that's great, but the Lakers shouldn't. JMO, that's all.

Re: Official 2021 NBA Off-Season Thread

I mean let's see

Year 1: Injury plagued year. Lakers don't make playoffs

Year 2: Best passer in the league, Lakers are top 2 team, then COVID happens, but they win title in the bubble

Year 3: Injury plagued year, Lakers eliminated in the 1st round

Any other team, the best player in the league comes in and wins a title, there's celebration. Laker fans, it's like "just the one?"

The Blazers are leaving their NBC Sports RSN and moving to Root Sports

I don't think there are any Blazers fans here, so I'm sure no one really cares about watching Blazers on TV.

Sounds like that's good for tv fans (or at least there are more households where it's available) but bad for streaming fans.

As long as they have Dame, at least they'll be on national TV every once in a while, but if they trade him...

Is El Scorcho/DTSC still around? I seem to recall he had a Blazers avatar.

Yeah Hulu, Sling and YouTube TV don't like the RSNs due to cost.

It's one of the main reasons why I still keep DirecTV for Lakers. No other provider outside of Spectrum carries it.
