Re: 2021 MLB regular season thread

Finally Minor League Baseball returns this coming Tuesday (May 4th).

MILBTV will be available :
annually will cost 39.99
monthly will cost 12.99

It's limited in which you can view games(computer, android devices, etc). As far as I know it's still not available on Roku or Amazon Fire TV however since you have a web browser with Fire TV then games can be viewed in that fashion.

Re: 2021 MLB regular season thread

The deadened ball seems to be working as home runs are down, but so are hits and strikeouts are up. Only 5 teams are hitting above .250 and 23 are below .240 (the worst April since 1968). Shutouts are on pace to shatter the record set in 1915.

Eugenio Suarez should be the poster child for the year so far, hitting .125 with 43 strikeouts in 96 at bats.

Cubs and Reds 12-12 after nine. Cubs have the ghost runner, an IBB, and two steals mixed in with three strikeouts.

Reds get the ghost runner plus a PB and a single. Game over.

Re: 2021 MLB regular season thread

The Braves are struggling in all phases of the game and all their pre-season moves are backfiring. Drew Smyly looks like a terrible signing, Marcell Ozuna has reverted back to Cardinals Ozuna after inking a four-year deal, and losing Melancon as closer has been crippling.

They are looking much more like a 85 win team than division champs. The only thing saving them is that the rest of the division is a dumpster fire as well.

Smyly rehabbed several years for teams I paid attention to. They say there are no bad one-year contracts, but the Braves may have overpaid in projecting out a small sample size.

I loved the Dodgers/Brewers extra inning game on Saturday night.

Ghost runners prolonged the game if anything.

Its bad enough when both teams score with the ghost runner and the game keeps going and going with no end in sight. I don't think that was the idea to begin with but managers then start overmanaging and things start to snowball.

Wow, the Tigers should trade back for him... he'd be their best player!

Miguel Cabrera is hitting .115....I think I may be able to hit that if they put me in the lineup. And I would take a lot less than the $30 million they are paying him.

Crushing blow for the Dodgers to have to slide another dominator into their rotation.

That really sucks. I love Sideshow Bob. Will he be ready for 2022?
Edit : ESPN says timeline is 12-16 months. What a bummer to get that injury so early into his career.

Mets fire both of their hitting coaches, "but it wasn't about this year's performance, it was about process".

Re: 2021 MLB regular season thread

Anthony Rendon fouled a ball off what looked like his kneecap and left the game. It looks a lot like the injury that Tommy LaStella had a couple years ago that caused him to miss half the season. The Angels cannot buy a break. Oh and their pitching still sucks.

And here I thought the Cubs hitters were just stuck-in-their-ways assholes for getting Chili Davis fired. Maybe he really isnít cut out for the launch-angle, three-outcomes era.

As of this morning, the Giants have the best record with a .607 winning percentage. I don't believe it.

Dodgers lost again today. Twice actually. Feels like it's time to panic. Honestly I have no idea why they are playing so poorly and why they can't win an extra inning game.

The extra-inning game was weird today, with both teams scoring two in the first one (the eighth).

If the Dodgers are losing a lot in extras, itís probably a fluke. Though maybe the ghost runner rule equalizes things a bit for their opponents, kinda like how a shorter series will benefit the inferior team because it skews more to chance than a longer one.

Re: 2021 MLB regular season thread

Clearly the poor hitting is somewhat tied to the baseballs used. I never understood why MLB are always pretending that nothing is going on with their doctoring of the baseballs when it could not be more obvious that last year's balls were juiced up to help the offense and this year's were deadened to help the pitching and defense. All it would take is an independent party to go and dissect and compare the compositions of 2019 vs 2020 vs 2021 manufactured baseballs.

Re: 2021 MLB regular season thread

Strikeouts are more abundant this year too. Iíve noticed that the change-up is being used as the kill pitch now (third strike), instead of the fastball.
