Ouch. Two blown 3-1 leads in two games to the same team with the same OT result.

VGK held scoreless for over 58 minutes. William Karlsson Scored the game tying goal with under 90 seconds left. Then in OT Max Pacioretty, wearing my newest authentic jersey, scores the game winner in 7 seconds.

I am glad the NHL is back but not happy that every game I watch goes in OT.

This might be a big problem in the future.

Giving a team an automatic point to play in OT has run it's course and gives teams little reason to try to win a game late in regulation time.

Most feel that's the reason they played to poorly in the playoffs last year. Not because Tarasenko was injured. Not because Binnington was mortal. Lol.

Couldn't agree more. An OT game is worth 3 net points... if the owners are committed to handing out loser points, just make all regulation wins worth 3 points as well and you might solve the problem.

In a perfect world, they'd go back to the old system and just end in a tie. Or, if you really want some OT, just go for the 5 minute 3v3, scrap the shootout, and only award 2 pts to the winner, or 1 pt each, if it remains tied after the 3v3.

Man, the season is young, but that's probably the best Habs team I've seen in... decades. They had speed last year, but they've added size and depth, including a top backup goalie. The only piece missing is a #1 center. I see you Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Vegas has the best record in the NHL and one of only three teams without a loss (or four if you count the 0-0-0 Dallas Stars). They move to 4-0-0 after pounding the Coyotes 5-2. Tampa and Florida are both 2-0-0. Knights are looking very strong and showing how important it will be this year to have two outstanding goalies with these back to back games all the time this year.

Dustin Penner lives near me. He likes to mouth off on Nextdoor. Hereís what he posted around 10:00 am on December 31. I sent it to Sports Illustrated and Barstool Sports and a few other online sports related folks and got no interest in return. So Iíll do literally the least that I can do and share it here:

This was his reply to a nurse who posted about taking coronavirus seriously, wearing masks, etc.

Heard Joe Thornton got injured in last night's game. Hope it's not serious, but I did hear he's likely to miss some time.

Also, the Capitals got fined $100,000 for Covid violations and 4 players including Ovechkin will now have to quarantine and will likely miss the next 4 games.

My guess is Habs or Leafs. That said, I don't know the western teams that well.

The Habs vs Canucks game last night was highly entertaining. Back and forth, 10 goals, and overtime plus shootout.

I'm noticing this alot this year as scoring is definitely up. The Flyers/Bruins game yielded 6 goals in just the 3rd period last night. I don't know if it's because there was no training camp, or it's a 56 game sprint, but it seems like Defense is MIA right now in the NHL. I don't have a problem with it as this was the 80's style of NHL I grew up with where the game was back and forth and very entertaining.

Re: 2021 Official NHL Regular Season Thread - 100% Inter-Divisional Play Edition

According to an ESPN+(or something) article, a lot of people like the all Canadian team Northern Division and one agent said they would be stupid to change it back to the old format next season.

However,dvd-4-life isn't too crazy about an all Canadian team AHL division. Looks like(nothing official cuz Canadian teams haven't announced their schedules) that the same 4 teams will be playing each other over and over again. No Thanks.

It's looking more and more that ESPN will be back with the NHL. They already show games on ESPN+.

I would also think that Fox Sports would also get involved (maybe Sunday game of the week and FS1 showing weeknight games).

CBS would be a long shot because CBS Sports Network basically shows college sports.

The NHL can't be too happy about losing NBC Sports Network and being dependent on a streaming service (along with USA Network ).

Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Jets for Laine

The Blue Jackets and Jets have completed a blockbuster trade to swap disgruntled stars as winger Patrik Laine is headed to Columbus while center Pierre-Luc Dubois has landed in Winnipeg.

Forward Jack Roslovic, a Columbus native, is also headed to the Blue Jackets as part of the deal. Columbus is sending Winnipeg its 2022 third-round pick.
Would have been the #1 center that's missing for the Habs but Colombus wanted Suzuki, Mete and a top prospect. Habs woudn't even trade Suzuki one for one. Oh well... In a year or two Suzuki will be a star. And the Habs have a boatload of prospects, and like 14 picks in the next draft. Stay the course.

The Golden Knights will play the Blues tonight without their entire coaching staff. Their GM Kelly McCrimmon will serve as head coach.

Calgary Flames are moving the Stockton Heat(AHL) to Calgary for the upcoming AHL season giving the Canadian Division 5 teams.

Vancouver Canucks(Utica) and Edmonton Oilers (Bakersfield) are the only 2 Canadian teams that are keeping their AHL farm teams in the USA.
