Official 2021 NFL Off-Season Thread

I figured we could start this thread a few hours ahead of the end of the NFL season. Hope nobody minds me jumping the gun by a bit.

Doug Peterson expected to be retained by the Eagles for the 2021 Season.

To the surprise of no one, both Adam Gase and Doug Marrone were informed that they have been fired as soon as the game ends tomorrow.

Sounds like Pederson is safe.

Then there is Anthony Lynn. Apparently his players love him, so they'll probably blow out the resting Chiefs today.

I think the betting total on coaches canned this week is 3.

FWIW, NFL Network has not confirmed that Marrone has been informed and FOX NFL Sunday stated that Marrone has indicated that he has not yet been informed. Seems like a done deal, but nothing formal yet.

Think I said this a few weeks ago - good luck trading him with that contract.

Even if a team were willing to take on his contract, the cap hit to the Eagles would be too massive for them to absorb.

Re: Official 2021 NFL Off-Season Thread

Wentz's 4-year $128M extension officially kicks in next season.

He's supposed to earn $15.4M in base salary in 2021. Who the hell can afford to take on that, especially for a QB who had a disastrous season?

If Wentz truly want fresh start elsewhere then he needs take a massive pay cut to accommodate the trade. However, not sure if NFLPA would allow something like that even if both parties are willing participants.

Even though it has not yet been made official. Chargers will be firing Anthony Lynn later today or tomorrow.

Top of the draft:

The top five are now set:

1. Jaguars
2. Jets
3. Texans (1st round pick goes to Dolphins)
4. Falcons
5. Bengals

The Eagles are #6 with a loss. With a win, they drop to #9 and the next three teams move up one spot.

7. Lions
8. Panthers
9, Broncos
10. Cowboys

The Giants are #11 if the Eagles lose.

I hope there is no 2021 season so I don't have to watch the 49ers.

Not looking forward to 2021.

I mean this season was an aberration for the Niners, just a massive slew of injuries. Coming back next year healthy and with the #12 pick in the draft and they should be fine. Assuming Jimmy G comes back strong.

The Dolphins also get the Texan's 2nd round pick... which is a high 2nd rounder at #35.
They'll have 3 picks in the top 35. Not too shabby. They're stocking up.

You say that sarcastically, but as a Jets' fan I was genuinely worried that Gase could buy himself another year with a year-end winning streak.

And Gase will likely get another job as a coordinator in the next year or two. He'll just be another in a long line of retreads who still get work in the NFL.

That division is going to be hella fun with them and the Bills.

John Elway is stepping down as GM for the Broncos. After Peyton Manning he could never get the Qb right for them.

Moving to a higher Front Office position as President of Football Operations. Won't be the GM but still involved in the organization.

Re: Official 2021 NFL Off-Season Thread

The Chargers always get hot and go on a winning streak when their season is over and it too late.

Maybe if they were in the NFC they would have a chance to make the playoffs.
