Edge just referenced CM Punk’s promo from last week. That was a cool tip of the hat even though it was kind of a backhanded compliment.

What is WWE building for? The January 1st PPV?

WTF was that Cody match last night? So many missed spots, so nonsensical, and it ended with a flaming table that Andrade didn't even go through. That was absolute shit....sorry

Yeah, I'm not a fan of those kinds of matches , but I know there are people that love them. That flaming table spot was pretty cool (and dangerous) though. I think it wasn't a botch but intentional that Cody's back went through it, though. My main problem with it is that it was a lot of effort to have Cody come out as the face in his hometown but I doubt it moves the needle in people booing him, so what was the ultimate point as far as his character goes?

No I don't think the table was a botch either but me as a wrestling fan sees Cody's back go through the table and Andrade take no punishment on it and wonder what the point of it was.

I know they've taken all believability out of it but why do something so dangerous if it's not even going to look good (Jericho falling into crash pads)

So Danielson v Page on free TV. Should be a good match.
I guess with a lot less PPVs for AEW these big matches on tv are more expected.

The worst part of that match was the fact that there was no reason whatsoever for Cody and Andrade to be having a match like that. Cody's been feuding with Black forever and Black and Andrade have recently teamed up, but Cody and Andrade haven't had that much of an issue. They've completely lost control of whatever story they've been trying to tell with Cody over the last few months. I don't get it at all.

WWE DISCONTINUING PHYSICAL DVD RELEASES IN UNITED STATES

By [email protected] on 2021-12-03 16:05:00WWE's home video releases, which began with the VHS format back in the days of Coliseum Home Video, will end this month for the United States, according to www.WWEDVDNews.com, which has long been a quality source for the company's DVD releases.

Their report notes:
WWE Home Video has had a physical media presence with DVDs since 1999, dating back further with VHS since 1985 (taking into account Coliseum Video). Over the years WWF/E would release their content on physical media via several formats; VHS, Betamax, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-ray and even UMD.

The update sadly means 2021 will have been the last year for WWE Home Video in the home market, which includes Canada too since those releases were closely aligned with the US.

As for reasoning behind the move, while specifics haven’t been stated to us, the why is probably the obvious and in the end will boil down to revenue, coupled with the company putting less emphasis on DVD and Blu-ray in recent years and more of a focus on new content for the WWE Network and Peacock, whereby WWE content is streamed online.
The final slated DVDs for 2021 are the 2021 Survivor Series and a best of Drew McIntyre compilation.

DVD releases are still slated for Great Britain.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I thought that they had already stopped producing them along time ago.

According to Hannibal TV the WWE has cancelled allthereupcoming shows in Canada. He thinks because of too many covid-19 protocols.

WWE was releasing DVD and Blu-rays until now, but with the decline of physical media presence at stores, they were harder to find. Until recently, Wal-Mart and FYE still carried WWE DVD/BDs with unique exclusives. I actually still buy their PPV releases since I don't trust Peacock or the Network from editing them in the future and taking out some content like they have been doing over the past year.

You can always find most of the unedited WWE stuff also on YouTube(quality varies).

Why is Smackdown so bad?? I flipped over and Baron Corbin has his own show and then he starts signing if you're happy and you know it. Terrible.

Turned it off and watched Dr Britt Baker DMD clips on YouTube

I have no idea how Corbin still has a job. It's automatic FF when he shows up.

I still can't tell if this new Corbin gimmick is some kind of punishment, because he's still going over. But it's terrible.

I did watch Smackdown and I kind of forgot how decent Brock is on the mic. However I have no idea why they hell they let Sami win the battle royale for the title shot then did this to him. Like what the heck was the point of that battle royale then? I'll also say, having Sami come down to the ring and then spending like 30 minutes in promos and recaps before the actual match happens (and it wasn't even a match) is some kind of crap.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Not too surprised about WWE discontinuing physical media. The way they’ve been pushing the WWE Network so long I’m actually surprised they’ve continued with releases this long.

Plus they only do DVDs for the PPVs anyways, and they don’t do as many compilations or best of certain wrestlers anymore.

If I'm Tony Khan, I would buy the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and start doing year ceremony to compete with the WWE one. It seems the PWHF needs financial help so Khan could certainly use the established legacy and run with it

Hopefully he doesn't show up on AEW a month from now. He always seems to get rewarded for his addictions.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

No release announcement on WWE.com, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the news is true. Jeff Hardy just can’t seem to keep himself together. He’s had issues for so long now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he winds up in AEW eventually. He doesn’t deserve it, but I feel like with Matt already being there Tony Khan won’t be able to resist.

It feels like Tony would be sensitive enough to a situation like this, especially in light of what Moxley is going through, that he wouldn't immediately sign him, at least without Jeff accepting some kind of rehab or something.

Exactly. Tony Khan is not a moron fanboy. He has a very positive locker room that raves about working for him. The same locker room that kept their mouth shut last year when Brodie Lee was sick. He's not going to ruin the dynamic by bringing in someone who is a liability because of his addictions. Bottom line is that Jeff Hardy needs help. Hardy seems to be as stubborn as Kurt Angle was when Angle had his drug issues. Either he goes to rehab or neither company will sign him.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Johnny Gargano and Kyle O'Reilly's contracts are both expired as of today and are free to go anywhere else as soon as tonight.

Both were offered new deals and turned them down.
