According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal for the WWE Network is worth $1 billion over 5 years.

I think that's mainly the TV deals and stuff kicking in, though. I'm all in on giving Vince and co. crap, but if they were making cuts due to forward thinking on how the contracts are going to end up in the future due to the ratings dive, I can understand. They had also signed way more talent than they want to use, anyway.

At the end of the day, though, if they weren't a publicly traded company they probably don't have that kind of pressure to boost profits every single time, and that's where the Fortune 500 layoff mentality comes from.

Does anyone think Peacock will still be around in five years?

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I really hope this isn't true but I know that Ryback is close with Dolph Zigglers brother Ryan Nemeth and I think he recently debuted there.

Taking to his podcast last week, controversial former WWE star Ryback has claimed that he’s going to be joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW) soon, which you can read more about by clicking here.

I dunno, Ryback was pretty over at one point before he was completely buried, and I trust the AEW team to not be so enamored with him that they just push him to the top and over others. If the rumor is true, that is. But they already have guys like Wardlow, Hager, and eventually (when they push him as a solo beast) Miro, so I'm not sure what he can do for them.

How much money does Universal have to secure NFL Sunday Ticket streaming rights?

I hope Sting knows what he's doing.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Who the fuck wants Ryback again? Also heís been running his mouth a lot lately. Complaining that he was never champion, but yet calling the championship a prop and saying that it doesnít matter. Heís a washed up guy who never amounted to much. He may have been a bit over briefly, but he wasnít a great performer, and by many accounts a dangerous worker.

As far as Sting- I can see the match going a direction where he doesnít do a ton physically. If itís a street fight it may be more of a hardcore match. In that case they just need to make sure to protect their shots and not have another incident where someone does a stiff shot.

This don't sound good. I always used to start watching an hour or so after the start.

Fans could run into an issue while watching WWE content on Peacock when the Network moves to the platform.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Yeah, that kinda sucks, but for me personally, I can't remember the last time I watched a PPV while it was actually on the air.... Probably WrestleMania in 2019 or thereabouts. Nowadays, the earliest that I watch everything is the next day, during the afternoon. This includes the weekly TV too. I can't stay up late anymore.

Peacock just needs to adapt some of the WWE Network tech to their streaming. There's no reason for not to do it.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Conrad Thompson is adding another podcast to his job and this one is with Kurt Angle. I feel that this should be good as Kurt is pretty blunt and honest about things in his career and won't hide or "don't recall" stuff in order to make himself look better

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I like Conradís podcasts from time to time. I more listen to segments on YouTube versus the entire shows though. Mostly 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff, but once in a while I listen to Grilling JR.

I may listen to Kurtís from time to time. Have to see how he is on a podcast.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I use to religiously listen to them but they became all the same. I really like the Arn Anderson one but I don't want to hear him go over PPV's like WHW. JR is good but the same format and I don't like the PPV recaps on his either.

This is another match that I never knew it had happened. It was Kerry's final match in WWF.

There is a pretty cool biography on DDP on Amazon Prime called Relentless. Watched it the other day. Worth checking out if you like him.

Re: The 2021 Pro Wrestling Thread.

The Yokozuna documentary is up on the network and is really good. No mention of his last appearance on a PPV, which was the infamous Heroes of Wrestling, in which he was weighing close to 800lbs. He had lost almost 200lbs by the time of his death, but it wasn't enough to be healthy. To me he was the key figure that the helped WWF transition from the Hogan era to the Bret Hart one.

Tonight will be one of the few Royal Rumble events I will miss. I dropped the WWE Network after WrestleMania last year. I might give it another go depending how it is when it moves to Peacock.

Picked up the network for the first time since last January/February for the Rumble. Watched and enjoyed the Yoko doc. Any other docs from the last year that stick out in anyone's memory?

Goldberg is wrestling in shorts now. He has no business being in the ring for a championship match
