Strange map, to say that the White Sox and Angels have zero hold spots in its own state, not to mention the White Sox should have a much better team than the Cubs this year.

Whatís that based off of?

I find it hard to believe the Braves donít hold all of GA, more of FL, and more of NC.

Where do MLB Fans Live? Mapping Baseball Fandom Across the U.S - 2019 data

By analyzing the behavior of MLB shoppers on SeatGeek, we were able to map “MLB Fandom” across the country. See below for an interactive map of the most popular team in every U.S. county, and a breakdown of the most interesting stories that it surfaces.

The Atlanta Braves are the team with the most shopped-for tickets in 515 counties

[...]

California, home to more MLB teams than any other state (five), can be a battleground for baseball fans. In reality, however, it is a four-team race out West, as the Anaheim Angels — along with the Chicago White Sox — are one of two teams that did not rank as the most popular in a single county.

Reminder that today is the day you can grab a free year of MLB.tv from T-Mobile (and Sprint). Deal is live for one week, so don't wait.

Does the T-Mobile deal only work when watching on the phone, or can you also use the subscription on a roku device?

Itís a free year of MLB.tv. Works everywhere. I just have to deal with the BS of their massive blackout rules. But I use a VPN and can watch Dodgers games on my home computer at least.

I think itís disingenuous to call the most shopped for team the most popular team. If Iím in south Florida, Iím probably shopping for either Tampa or Miami, regardless of who my favorite team really is.

Re: MLB 2020 Off-Season Thread

Rougned Odor doesn't make the opening day roster. He was dynamic for a while but hasn't been good in a long time.

And Scott Kingery didn't make the roster either. He signed the six-year contract before he ever played in the big leagues, and while $24M isn't going to break the Phils, they're still paying him $4M to cool his heels until the MiLB season starts, and is due $6M and $8M over the next two years (followed by team options for 13M/14M/15M). He still has time to establish himself (he was a 2.8 bWAR player in 2019, but a total of 0.9 over three years), but that's one long-term deal that has worked out better for the player so far.

Looks like the Blue Jays will still be playing in Florida for now.

Also, today T-Mobile is giving MLB TV for free for those who subscribe.

I'm not sure Odor will ever play in MLB again. He only got playing time the past two years because the Rangers were on the hook for so much money, but even they cut bait still owing him over $25 million. Lowest OPS+ ever for a player with 30 homers in a season.

People give players so much shit for taking these deals, but theyíre a win/win as far as Iím concerned. The team takes advantage of their leverage to lock in a potential young superstar early in their career. They pay more than they have to for 4-6 years in order to get team friendly years tacked on at the end. The players get guaranteed money up front, regardless of potential injury or career downturn. And these guys can obviously have some fun making $600k in their early 20s, but they can have a shitton more making $5-10MM...cars, boats, jewelry, houses, women...they wonít get those years back by waiting for free agency. Lots of these guys also have family living in some pretty crappy conditions overseas that they get to provide for as well.

Re: MLB 2020 Off-Season Thread

Anyone else who has done the T-Mobile MLB.tv deal still seeing an "upgrade" option when signed in?

See it on the Roku app and via browser.

It should be fine if you see you are subscribed under "Manage Subscriptions" on this page:

https://www.mlb.com/tv

It should say "MLB.TV T-Mobile 2021"
