Also odd, Shaktar gets the double against madrid. Inter with the early lead on Gladbach, who if not for the two stoppage time lead concessions would be running away with the group. Now, anybody's guess and chance madrid finish last.
Crazy Covid.

Fuck, Gladbach give up another, now trail 2-1. After dominating the group, but not getting the results, they are facing a match with madrid needing points to advance. Insane.

Incredible match. 3-3 now. Plea with the hat trick. A draw knocks out Inter.
And you need to see Ashley Young's miss. Brutal.
But while I was typing, goal disallowed for offsides interference. Bullshit call. 3-2, Inter still alive.

Liverpool advance out of the group stages thanks to the vital contributions of Kelleher and Jones in a tight victory over Ajax.

The Football Association has announced a radical post-Brexit shake‑up that will mean Premier League and EFL clubs cannot sign foreign players until they are 18, with all transfers from European Union nations set to be subject to work permits that will be allocated using a points-based system.
In a controversial move that could have seismic effects on the recent dominance of English clubs over their European rivals, a joint statement from the FA, Premier League and EFL confirmed on Tuesday that the new system, which will come into force when the UK’s transition period after leaving the EU ends on 31 December and has been approved by the Home Office, will also see Premier League clubs limited to signing no more than three overseas players under the age of 21 in any single transfer window and a total of no more than six per season.

Just watched the Barca highlights - Dembele still looks quick as hell. It doesn’t look like his injuries have slowed him down.
I really like the CBS Champions League YouTube channel. Huge improvement on their predecessor.

A few days late, but I didn't see a thread for it. The "hand of god" has reached down for Maradona. I remember being on holiday in Germany as a kid during the 1986 final and how disheartening it was to see my team (the only team I deign to claim) lose 3-2. But there was no denying the virtuosity of Maradona.

The votes have been cast and we have our winners -- who is the GOAT for the 13 key national teams? Here are the results!
Argentina: A comfortable win for the modern classic, as Lionel Messi took 65% of the vote to Diego Maradona's 32%.
Brazil: A predictable landslide here, as Pele earned 79% with Ronaldo second on just 19%.
United States: Tighter for the USA but Landon Donovan still polled nearly half the votes, on 45% to Clint Dempsey's 28%
England: Sir Bobby Charlton's 56% saw him win easily ahead of Bobby Moore (26%).
Portugal: No surprises here and the biggest winner, with Cristiano Ronaldo on 86%. In second, Eusebio got 10%.
France: Zinedine Zidane saw off the competition, polling 65% with Thierry Henry on 21%.
Germany: It was Franz Beckenbauer who came out on top, with 63% to Gerd Muller's 23%.
Italy: The winner was Paolo Maldini (54%). Second was Roberto Baggio (26%).
Netherlands: An east victory for Mr. Total Football, Johan Cruyff. He got 71% with second-placed Arjen Robben on 16%.
Spain: Closer here, but Andres Iniesta polled 41% with Xavi on 24%.
Mexico: Rafa Marquez got 33%, but he was some way behind Hugo Sanchez on 53%.
Nigeria: Jay-Jay Okocha took first place with 48%, with Nwankwo Kanu second on 33%.
Australia: A big win for Tim Cahill, who got 72% of the votes to Harry Kewell's 19%

For @espn + subscribers in the USA, there’s a real Bundesliga treat available later today. A special documenting the history of the West/East divide in Berlin, as it applies to @HerthaBSC_EN & @fcunion_en ahead of Friday‘s derby. Honoured to have been asked to narrate it. #BSCFCU

Paolo Rossi, Italian football great and World Cup winner, dies aged 64
- Former Juve and Milan striker won 1982 World Cup
He played before my time in front of the tv, but 64 is too young.
