Okay, no news yet to report, but word is Doug Marrone is getting fired right after the Jags finish their game against the Colts. We will see....

Browns fire Freddie Kitchens. That was the right call.

I hope the Cowboys don't get a good coach who can maximize that talent.

I'm cooling on Chase Young a bit now. He doesn't seem to do much in big games. Maybe the Redskins should draft him.

Honestly it doesn't matter when an idiot owns the team and has his head buried in the sand.

Wade Phillips not expected back as Rams Defensive Coordinator. He was in the last year of his contract anyways.

The Rams D sucked this year. Time for Wade to retire.

Re: Official 2020 NFL Off-Season Thread

What is the Rams' plan going forward anyway? They were in win now mode for the past several years, flipping nearly as many picks away for players as Houston did. Now some of them are pending free agents and the Rams probably can't pay for them anyway. They are already pot committed to Gurley, Goff, Arnold and now need to find a way to pay Jalen Ramssey? They even traded away Marcus Peters since they can't afford him anymore after the Ramsey trade. Now the Rams won't even have a 1st round pick til 2022 or 2023?

Exactly

The culture is toxic, no head coach can fix it, no GM can fix it, no one that can fix it will ever want to work for Dan Snyder. The common decision maker in all of this is the owner.

Ron Rivera will not be able to salvage this mess

Giants fire Pat Schumur after two seasons.
The NFC East will have three first-year head coaches in 2020.

Raiders host the Colts, Dolphins, Bills, Saints and Bucs as well as the AFC West their first year in Vegas.
Of course I will go to the Chiefs and the Colts games. Bet I can get a good price for my Saints tickets. Donít know about the rest. Would probably want to go to the stadium opener as well if itís not one of those two. Canít wait for the schedule to come out.

Weird to hire a new head coach with your GM spot now open. But then again Snyder doesn't tend do things normally does he?

As I have said, toxic culture.

Not sure why any established coach would sign up for this, even with the money available.

Because it's a $2B franchise, not by mistake, and he made the right call in getting Bruce Allen out of the building entirely. The team has cap room, some young talent, and low picks in the 2020 draft.

Not to mention, PLAYERS love Snyder. It's not a toxic culture when you have that. Hell, even Trent did not speak ill of Snyder, and he HATES the redskins.

CLEVELAND is a toxic culture. Why anyone would want to go there when they fire coaches year after year I have no idea. Snyder gave Jay 5+ years. That says something.

Rivera is a good hire for us. Firing Allen is the best move Snyder has made well, ever.

Please book mark this thread.

Every coach Dan Snyder has hired has been the answer, the best move.

This team will never progress with the current owner.

Maybe Rivera will be the man who can finally survive and thrive in the toxic air of Ashburn, without winding up trashed and damaged. Maybe he’s that much better than Norv Turner, Marty Schottenheimer and Mike Shanahan. Maybe he’s the guy who can fix the consistent, central weakness in the Redskins’ organization, the owner’s tycoon mentality, his assumption that he can purchase wins with paycheck players and presto coaching solutions.

The plan is to try to find some semblance of an offensive line, pray that Goff is serviceable and that Gurley's relationship with McVey isn't fractured (and that he isn't fractured). So lots of prayer.

I'd love to see an analysis of what happens to teams once they have to pay top dollar for their skill positions, especially QB. Even if they're completely worth it (like Russel Wilson and not, say, Flacco) the rest of the team seems to inevitably suffer. Of course, the Rams are in deeper trouble because they traded away all those picks plus they're spending so much on a handful of players when there are holes everywhere else AND they paid Goff and Gurley like they would always play like they did in 2018.
