If you're not in the top 4, does it really matter what number you are in the final CFP rankings?

It matters for the NY6 bowl selections, though with conference tie-ins the rankings don't matter that much save for which team from a conference is selected to a particular bowl. For instance Georgia > Oregon meant nothing, but Wisconsin > Penn State determined the Rose Bowl berth. Also, including this season only 6 of the 60 teams to play in a NY6 bowl were ranked outside the top 12 final CFP rankings (typically the highest ranked group of five team).

Not sure.

Beating PSU/MICH/WISC by double digits in the final 3 weeks is pretty damn impressive.

LSU going 13-0, winning the SEC Championship in convincing fashion and beating five top ten teams this season left me with no doubt they should be at #1.

Five top ten wins only if you count beating a massively overrated Texas in week 2. And itís two against the final top ten. OSU has three.

Iíd credit them each four high quality wins. But Iíd give the edge to LSU for the remaining schedule being relatively tougher. Doesnít mean I think they are better than OSU (I donít) but I think their season results were tougher to achieve.

Thank you. Using rankings at the time of the game is idiotic. All that really matters is the rankings at the end. OSU had three top 10 wins, LSU had two. OSU beat 5 ranked teams and two unranked conference champs. LSU beat four ranked teams. You can still make a case for LSU #1, but not that way... If OSU is #1, they will prove it on Dec 28 and Jan 13.

I will say that I liked LSU's attitude about it. While OSU was actively campaigning for #1, LSU simply said "We don't care. Bring it on."

Over on ESPN, there's an interesting story on OJ Simpson.

The strange but true tales of O.J. Simpson's two Heisman Trophies.

Razzle dazzle by Navy. Very nice to end the half.

If Navy loses, does anybody rerank the programs? It's the only game this week.

Total bet down from 43 to 40. Huge move for a low total. Hammered. Books can't set it low enough.

That's 12 in a row Unders cashing in Army/Navy.

No, but if you live in Vegas, and kept rolling, say, a $20 Under bet years ago and Under Under, etc, you could have retired by now.
