Re: 2019 MLB Playoffs Thread

I voted for Astros. Hoping for a reverse jinx, but think they are the best team after 162. Still holding out hope for my Dodgers though. They're pretty good as well.

Cards over As
only because we haven’t seen an unexpected WS matchup /winner in a while. I think we’re due

I voted Cardinals but that's a total heart vote. Objectively, I doubt it will happen.

Re: 2019 MLB Playoffs Thread

I picked A's since I'm glad to see their an option. usually I have to pick "Other"

I'll be at the AL Wild Card game on wednesday. Probably will see the A's lose since Morton destroys them. At least I'll be with 50K other A's fans.

Re: 2019 MLB Playoffs Thread

It's hard picking anyone else but the Astros. It would take a team's pitching getting very hot for multiple games to seriously challenge them. I think the Dodgers are a paper tiger this year - Bellinger has looked much more ordinary in the second half. If the Braves weren't coming into the playoffs a bit injured, I'd pick them to beat the Dodgers.

I do think the Yankees have the best shot at beating the Astros over a short series.

Sure seems like it will be Astros vs Dodgers, but would love for the Rays or A's to surprise everyone.

I'd like to see the Braves vs. the A's, but I'm sure it'll be the Astros vs. the Dodgers. I think LA will fall short once again and the Astros will win it all.

Which can't happen, since they can only meet in the ALCS and is thus a 7 game series

Unfortunate time for Hader to have one of his bad games.

What a gut punch loss for the Crew. Harder had a really bad week, blowing the Save in Colorado and now this one.

Hader is awesome, but no one would be surprised if all those outings of multiple high-intensity innings started to take a toll.

So I guess the key for the Nats not to Nat is to play from behind.

Counsell blew the game for the Crew. Watched the whole thing unfold. Pomeranz was cruising and should have gone out for the 8th. Another example of this "analytics baseball" garbage blowing up in your face. Playoffs baseball is a feel for the game approach and he just flat out kicked it.

Re: 2019 MLB Playoffs Thread

I voted for the Astros as the logical choice but I really wanted Milwaukee... since that's not happening, I'll be rooting for the A's as they've done it without a single player I can name on their team outside Khris Davis (and kudos to Billy Beane).

The Nats might not win another playoff game and they are celebrating like they just won the World Series.

Isnít this the first playoff series the Nats have ever won? For them, it kinda is.

Re: 2019 MLB Playoffs Thread

The Brewers ran Hader into the ground over the past two seasons. I don't think any other team would use him as heavily, coming in for multiple inning saves on a regular basis.

Frankly, anytime you win a series, it's ok to celebrate.

Re: 2019 MLB Playoffs Thread

Playoff “round,” maybe, but the Nats will take it.

i watched the eighth inning, and it wasn’t like Hader was all over the place or getting lit up. If not for the controversial HBP or broken-bat flare, he might’ve gotten out of it. Still, they ask a ton of that guy, and no one would be surprised if he flamed out.
