@AdamSchefter: By fining Antonio Brown $215,073.53 last night for conduct detrimental to the team on Sept. 4, the Raiders voided the $29.125 million worth of guaranteed money in his deal, per league sources.

This could help explain why Brown is now asking the Raiders for his release.

Man what a mess. A year ago they had Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper. Now they have this (and some draft picks). That is what you call a problem of your own making.
I hate that this will be the team I watch several times a year starting next season.

The Raiders may be able to keep Brown from playing for another team this season.

This mess is all at Brown's feet. He had a problem with his feet, then the helmet and then not showing up to practice. Who is the unprofessional one in the room? He thinks he is bigger than the game and the rest of the team. Talking shit about those that feed you on social media will get you nowhere.

Huh? What was that you said?

What a maroon. But the Raiders (Gruden) own a lot of this as well. You expect a guy to act like a man while coddling him like a child.

Yep, both sides are to blame, though if I had nearly $30M on the line, I would like to think I'd bite my tongue and just go along with it. But some people can't get out of their own way.

At least he leaves the Raiders with all those memories of his time there. Like, remember those days he attended practice as a non-participant? Or worked out away from team facilities? He will cherish thoughts of those times he was on the sidelines for a preseason game in street clothes.

Re: 2019 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 1

Wow.

So did they decide to fine him after that video or did they just stupidly not tell him or did he like completely misunderstand about it? Because I can't remember ever seeing this kind of crapshow before. Gruden just issued a statement yesterday. Then they fined him and he asks for his release on Instagram, and it's granted? how does an organization let this happen?

If I were an NFL GM I would not even consider signing Antonio Brown. The guy is a trainwreck. He'd be a total distraction and hurt the team.

Is there a team desperate enough AND stupid enough to sign him?

If I was making the kind of money AB was making, I would just show up, do my job, not talk to anyone, and go home. I could do that $15 million a year.

Pats would be arrogant enough to believe they can turn him around. He and Gordon on the same team. Problem is zero chance they would pay him but he might play for them for a year.

Browns have shown they give zero fs when it comes to filling out their roster. Same with the Bengals, though I doubt he would go to the Bengals.

If a GM signed him to any sort of guaranteed money he should be fired immediately. And does anyone think AB will sign without guaranteed money? The guy will be 32 before the start of next season. Mid-30s headcase WR available for a mere $50 million? Hard pass.

so basically a guaranteed up front contract. I guess he's got the worth ethic to make this worthwhile and he certainly has the talent and worth to the organization but man that's a ton of bonus.

That's insane.

Watch him get hurt in the next two weeks with a season ending injury. That's just a stupid deal for the team. Great for Jones, though!

Amazing how you get rewarded for showing up, doing your job and not being a distraction.

I'm sure that he does. That Burfict hit messed him up big time. All joking aside, a person with their proper mental faculties running on all cylinders does not exhibit the erratic and irrational behavior that AB has displayed over the last couple of years. I hope the NFL's medical team reaches out to him to conduct testing to ensure that he doesn't do something as drastic as Seau.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all.
