Nobody is salty. What you said about their front office is correct. Changes need to be made. I just donít see how you can come here and brag about beating a shitty team youíre supposed to beat. And geez, 16 losses to this crappy team over three years? Thatís pretty bad.

Trust me I wish this team would lose more but the most frustrating thing about them is theyíre just bad enough to not be good. Theyíll go on a 7-8 game winning streak in September that will put them a decent amount of games out of the wild card and make it seem like they tried and were in it til the end. Happens every year. And thus costing them a top ten pick. I canít remember them ever losing 100 games. The Astros seemed like they were doing that every year. Remember the ďLastrosĒ monicker? Thatís why they have the core they have. Trout was the result of the Teixeira to the Yankees deal.

KC fan base is pretty strong. I am guessing that Tampa is primed to move to Vegas. How they have been able to withstand crowds of under 10K every night is unfathomable.

This is a fantastic partial quote from the DBacks manager in response to them going 60 games with a record 2 games under or over .500 and no better/worse, which is an MLB record.

"I've talked about it being like a dune buggy on a sandy road in the Sahara Desert," Lovullo said. "Even though I've never been to the Sahara Desert, I can imagine there are some sand dunes there."

Skaggs died from choking on his own vomit. Had alcohol, oxycodone and fentanyl in his system.

Incredibly sad. Hopefully the pharmaceutical companies will get taken to the shed with this awful mess that they have created with all the shady doctors that have no business treating patients.

I heard he might have been given the drugs by someone in the Angels organization.

I'm surprised anyone would want to buy the Royals for $1B. They just got assfucked by Oakland 19-4. That's a lot of money for a fixer-upper.

A record number of blow out games can't help MLB especially tv ratings.

The mighty Yankees were able to finally able to drop the A's on their 5th try. It's amazing how Beane can grab guys off of the trash heap and turn them into highly serviceable players. I mean Friers, Bailey and Roarke were sub-par before coming to Oakland. Now they are all pitching at a 1-2 level as opposed to their typical 5 or on the cusp of the roster slot.

That winning percentage against the Angels comes out to a 100 wins if played over a full season. Pretty sad on the Angels part. You can use your incredibly lame "Lastros" insults and I just laugh, because tanking back then was worth it. Astros are going to have a 3rd consecutive 100 plus win season (4th in team history), something the Angels have only managed to do once in their entire existence.

And you're right, being mediocre is actually WORSE for a franchise than being really bad. The draft benefits of being bad are worth it, as the Astros have so clearly proven.

Most seem to think that the Angels plan to steal Gerrit Cole from the Astros in free agency.

Steal?

He’ll be a free agent.
A handful of teams will be trying to sign him.

Cole is a hired gun. He will take the biggest deal that he can get. The Yankees will push really hard to sign him. If Moreno is willing to through out a blank check like he did with Pujols then the Angels could be the team to beat. My guess is that he will get a $200 million deal from somebody.

Who said I was insulting them? Everyone called them the Lastros. If you think they lost on purpose all those years, you donít know baseball. And the Astros have a bright future. Nobody said they didnít. The Angels should have one but with their organization you never know. Iím so glad youíre excited about your 100 win seasons. Before you plan the parade, the Dodgers, Yankees, and a few other teams might want a word.

And congrats to Verlander. I never liked him (I think heís a whiny bitch) but heís in elite company and is going to win another Cy Young this year.

Anaheim is where free agents go to die. I canít remember the last one to come here and do as they were expected. Vlad? Colon?

With the Oakland Raiders are relocating to Vegas next year, it seems like something has changed. The NFL, NBA, and MLB have, historically, seemed to avoid Las Vegas like the plague. I don't know if it's the association with gambling and betting that has kept them away, or a belief that the city's culture, which is based around tourism, wouldn't be a good fit for a pro sports franchise. All of the casinos and hotels operating 24-7 is something that would probably cut into the attendance of the games, and the tourists probably wouldn't be interested in going to games, either.

It ain't like there isn't money floating around the city to build stadiums and put together winning teams.

Re: 2019 MLB August thread

One of the interesting things this year is some great rookie performances.

How great?

Bryan Reynolds may win the batting title but won't win ROY. In fact he may come in 3rd (or 4th) in NL voting after Alonso, Soroka (& Tatis).
