Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

Results from the Gmal DVDTalk league:

1. (6) DeAndre Hopkins (HOU - WR)
2. (19) Joe Mixon (CIN - RB)
3. (30) Derrick Henry (TEN - RB)
4. (43) Chris Carson (SEA - RB)
5. (54) Tyler Lockett (SEA - WR)
6. (67) Cam Newton (CAR - QB)
7. (78) Vance McDonald (PIT - TE)
8. (91) Vikings (MIN - TD)
9. (102) Greg Zuerlein (LAR - PK)
10. (115) Jamal Agnew (DET - IDP)
11. (126) Peyton Barber (TBB - RB)
12. (139) Courtland Sutton (DEN - WR)
13. (150) Josh Allen (BUF - QB)
14. (163) Ronald Jones II (TBB - RB)
15. (174) Jordan Reed (WAS - TE)
16. (187) Seahawks (SEA - TD)

Horrid. Auto-draft because I had dress rehearsal for my concert at draft time. Yahoo did take my 100 pre-ranked players and did... okay... with it, but it fell into the trap of wanting to immediately flesh-out my starting lineup (the 7-10 picks bear this out - horrible!) I ended up unilaterally dropping the unnecessary backup TE/TD, got rid of Agnew and picked up an actual IDP worth crap, there's no use in having RJ2 on my roster at all, and though I'm not expecting much from the Bengals, since Mixon is my defacto RB1 and Bernard was available on the wire, I picked him up as a handcuff. I still have one more move to make, but post-triaged roster now looks like this:

QB: (6) Newton (CAR), (13) Allen/J (BUF)
RB: (2) Mixon (CIN), (3) Henry/D (TEN), (4) Carson (SEA), (11) Barber (TBB), (F/A) Bernard (CIN) [Mixon Handcuff], (14) Jones/R (TBB) [Dropping next]
WR: (1) Hopkins (HOU), (5) Lockett (SEA), (12) Sutton (DEN), (F/A) Williams/T (OAK)
TE: (7) McDonald (PIT)
PK: (9) Zuerlein (LAR)
TD: (8) Vikings (MIN)
IDP: (F/A) Edmunds (BUF)

I strongly dislike my weakness at WR, having two starting Seahawks, and the overall lack of depth caused by the unnecessarily-early 7-10 picks. I don't have many major bye week issues (RB week 11 notwithstanding), and since Jones is completely unnecessary I could theoretically use his slot to pick up a rotating bye-week starter for the TE/PK/TD/IDP slots... but history has taught me that even if I plan for that, injuiries elsewhere will force me to abandon those plans very quickly.

But in spite of that, Mrs. Lincoln and I enjoyed the concert. Lol.

I have bad news for Pettis. He is in Shanahans doghouse and Samuel looks like the guy that is ascending.

It has not been a good preseason for him.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

I had two drafts on Thursday and one late Friday night.

Fifth pick 12 team PPR work league
1. (5) David Johnson Ari, RB
2. (20) JuJu Smith-Schuster Pit, WR
3. (29) Josh Jacobs Oak, RB
4. (44) Tyler Lockett Sea, WR
5. (53) Derrius Guice Wsh, RB
6. (68) Drew Brees NO, QB
7. (77) Sterling Shepard NYG, WR
8. (92) Tony Pollard Dal, RB
9. (101) Christian Kirk Ari, WR
10. (116) Darrell Henderson LAR, RB
11. (125) Tyrell Williams Oak, WR
12. (140) Justin Tucker Bal, K
13. (149) Broncos D/ST Den, D/ST
14. (164) O.J. Howard TB, TE

I'm not crazy about my WRs in this league. Also, I got too enamored of Zeke sitting out the whole season and Pollard being a top 10 RB pick that I could get in the later rounds. Seems like a Zeke deal is imminent now. Also, I seem to miss out on QBs. There always seems to be a run on QBs right before I want to draft one. I had to reach for Brees in this league.... I also had to juggle the end of this draft with the beginning of the draft below. I was super distracted.

Third pick 10 team standard scoring keeper league
1. (3) Dalvin Cook (Min - RB)
2. (18) Derrick Henry (Ten - RB)
3. (23) DeAndre Hopkins (Hou - WR) (Keeper)
4. (38) T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
5. (43) Robby Anderson (NYJ - WR)
6. (58) Derrius Guice (Was - RB)
7. (63) Cam Newton (Car - QB)
8. (78) David Njoku (Cle - TE)
9. (83) Julian Edelman (NE - WR) (Keeper)
10. (98) Austin Ekeler (LAC - RB)
11. (103) Corey Davis (Ten - WR)
12. (118) Ka'imi Fairbairn (Hou - K)
13. (123) Denver (Den - DEF)
14. (138) Sam Darnold (NYJ - QB)
15. (143) Darren Waller (Oak - TE)

This draft overlapped with my work draft and I was struggling with juggling two drafts at once. I kept Hopkins and Edelman. I had to reach for RBs and ended up with Cook and Henry. I also ended up with Cam at QB due to being on the wrong end of a run on QBs.

Tenth pick 12 team Mainly TD Scoring Work League (1 pt for every 25 yards rushing or receiving. 1 pt for every 50 yards passing)

1. (10) Odell Beckham Jr. Cle, WR
2. (15) JuJu Smith-Schuster Pit, WR
3. (34) Damien Williams KC, RB
4. (39) Baker Mayfield Cle, QB
5. (58) David Montgomery Chi, RB
6. (63) Derrius Guice Wsh, RB
7. (82) Tony Pollard Dal, RB
8. (87) Will Fuller V Hou, WR
9. (106) Philip Rivers LAC, QB
10. (111) Darwin Thompson KC, RB
11. (130) Geronimo Allison GB, WR
12. (135) Anthony Miller Chi, WR
13. (154) Adam Humphries Ten, WR
14. (159) Jake Elliott Phi, K
15. (178) Broncos D/ST Den, D/ST

I'm not super happy with this draft. I was appointed commissioner of this league after the former commissioner quit. My PC had to be displayed on a projector and I couldn't make a queue without everyone seeing who I was interested in picking. So, I was kind of picking on the fly. I did decide to draft Baker and start the QB run instead of getting screwed by a QB run.

All in on Derrius Guice, eh?

How was OJ Howard sitting there in the last round?

A potential starting running back in the 5th round is cheap. You don't have to start a TE in that league. You start a QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, and a W/R/T flex. I was going to draft Darnold to backup Brees, but some guys started drafting their third QB and took him. There weren't any more QBs that I liked and you can only draft 5 RBs and 5 WRs so I went with the best available TE which was Howard.

How accurate is a draft grade when they say you have the most difficult schedule in the league?

Oh sure, Iíd draft Guice myself. Just kind of remarkable that you got him on all three teams.

And ah, no required TE league makes sense.

I have Guice in 5 of 6 leagues so far. I have one more draft on Wednesday. I've been shooting for value RBs in rounds 3 through 8. Jacobs, Guice, and Pollard are on a bunch of my rosters.

Neither. There are better guys going undrafted. Smith probably has the most upside, but I don't think he'll be a main fixture of that offense until Gin Jr. leaves. Thomas is probably the third option in New England behind Edelman and Gordon.

I was taking Jacobs in a lot of my Yahoo mocks but havenít been able to get him since I switched to ESPN. Either his stock has risen or they just have him ranked higher.

Jacobs was ranked as a 4th or 5th rounder on Yahoo. He's ranked as a late second early third rounder on ESPN. I had to reach for him at pick 29 in one of my work league ESPN drafts.

I dropped Traquen Smith for Justin Jackson

He was available and I have Ekeler but I head Ekeler struggles when he is the #1 RB.

That makes sense. When I mock ESPN at #9, I can get a top 5 WR and top 10-ish RB, but heís always gone by my turn in the third.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

Last draft I did. Crazy 2QB league. You don't have to play 2nd QB, you can roll with a 2nd RB, but not worth it. QBs fly off the board. I was 5th pick of 12.
DeAndre Hopkins Hou, WR
David Johnson Ari, RB
Baker Mayfield Cle, QB
Brandin Cooks LAR, WR
Josh Allen Buf, QB
O.J. Howard TB, TE
Aaron Jones GB, RB
Andy Dalton Cin, QB
Marvin Jones Jr. Det, WR
Chargers D/ST LAC, D/ST
Geronimo Allison GB, WR
Miles Sanders Phi, RB
Mecole Hardman KC, WR
Matt Prater Det, K

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

I'm rolling with 4 teams this year

12 Team PPR (DVD Talk All Star League)
QB Wentz
WR Godwin
WR Westbrook
RB Kamara
RB D Williams
TE Engram
Flex Carson
WR Kirk
WR Valdes-Scantling
RB Penny
WR Coutee
RB Samuels
WR Beasley

12 Team PPR Dynasty (First Year Friends League)
QB Wentz
WR Hopkins
WR Godwin
RB Cook
RB Jacobs
TE Engram
WR Westbrook
WR Kirk
WR Boykin
WR Washington
WR Ross
WR Hamilton
TE Waller
RB Sanders
RB Coleman
RB Breida
RB Davis
RB Henderson
QB Rivers
QB Darnold

10 Team PPR (Yahoo Pro League)
QB Mayfield
WR Hill
WR Diggs
RB Chubb
RB Jones
TE Engram
WR Godwin
RB Sanders
RB Johnson Jr
QB Murray
TE Andrews
WR Fuller
WR Gallup

10 Team PPR (Work League)
QB Murray
WR Adams
WR Beckham Jr
RB Ingram
RB Jones
TE McDonald
WR Godwin
RB Coleman
RB Guice
RB Samuels
WR Fuller
WR Valdes-Scantling
QB Prescott

Thoughts: Well it's pretty obvious I targeted a few guys often. I am 100% sold on Chris Godwin being a PPR monster and Engram having a breakout season with OBJ gone. I'm also very confident about all the reports I've read about Westbrook and Foles. I'm hoping MVS has a breakout year as the #2 in Green Bay, he was a bench WR I often looked for. Mayfield was a guy I really wanted but only got in one league because he started going too early. One guy that I had been targeting (and drafted a few times) that I'm nervous about is Tevin Coleman. He's looked bad in the preseason and seems to be in a RBBC with Breida already. But the pre-season hype had me sold on him, based on what he's done in the past with Shanahan, is a dual threat, and that he was being signed to be the #1 guy and finally out of Freeman's shadow.

One guy in one of my leagues dropped Darnold for Gronk.

Is there a rumor he is coming back?

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

I thought I was going to be taking a year off from fantasy since the long-running league I had been in seemed to have died. But it got resurrected at the last minute and I'm back in! Which is nice since it's a big way I've been keeping in contact with friends that I haven't seen in person for years. I co-manage with a friend who lives across the country and we get on speaker phone for the draft. With a co-manager, I can pass off all the blame when things don't go well and take all credit what they do.

This is a 12-team ESPN league (standard scoring). You can keep 2 players from the previous year for the first 2 rounds of picks. Snake draft starts in the 3rd round (I had 11th spot). Drafted last night.

1. (keeper) Zeke Elliott (DAL - RB)
2. (keeper) David Johnson (ARI - RB)
3. (35) George Kittle (SF - TE)
4. (38) Brandon Cooks (LAR - WR)
5. (59) Mike Williams (LAC - WR)
6. (62) Damien Williams (KC - RB)
7. (83) Carson Wentz (PHI - QB)
8. (86) Dede Westbrook (JAC - WR)
9. (107) Larry Fitzgerald (ARI - WR)
10. (110) Tony Pollard (DAL - RB)
11. (131) Ty Montgomery (NYJ - RB)
12. (134) Justin Jackson (LAC - RB)
13. (155) Darwin Thompson (KC - RB)
14. (158) Chargers (DST)
15. (179) Jake Elliot (PHI - K)

Since I knew we were keeping the two RBs, my initial plan was to target 2 WRs for 3rd and 4th round (and aim for the Engram/Henry/Howard tier of TEs in the 5th/6th). But Kittle dropped to us and my friend didn't want to pass on him (and I don't think it's a bad move). WRs ended up being a bit weak though. Even though the Zeke signing seemed eminent I couldn't wait until #110 to take Pollard for piece of mind. After that it's a lot of "dart-throw" RBs. If just one of those guys develops into a decent flex play I'll take it. Probably should've taken a sleeper WR in picks 11-13. I have a consistent weakness for loading up my benches with RBs.

I forgot how much going from 10 to 12 teams drains the talent pool. There's pretty much nothing left on the waiver wire. Justice Hill is still there ... anyone think he's a better bench RB than any of the 4 I have (Pollard, Montgomery, Jackson, Thompson)? I'm also eyeing Golden Tate (also undrafted) for some WR depth. I know he's suspended until week 5, but there's a reasonable chance of him stepping in and being decent, isn't there?

I'm just crossing my fingers Wentz stays healthy for once. QBs left on the waiver wire are Rivers, Carr, Darnold, Allen, Foles. Someone will have a decent bye week matchup for me.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

This was auction draft was my last draft of the season

DeAndre Hopkins $54
Alvin Kamara $68
Aaron Rodgers $8
O.J. Howard $8
Julian Edelman $19
Robby Anderson $4
Justin Tucker $2
Duke Johnson Jr. $8
Rashaad Penny $2
James White $2
Latavius Murray $2
Corey Davis $1
LeSean McCoy $2
Delanie Walker $7
Philip Rivers $2
Rams D/ST $9

I'm not happy with how this turned out. I didn't really want Edelman or Howard. I got caught trying to bid another owner up and was stuck with them. I spent too much ($122) of my $200 budget on Hopkins and Kamara so my RBs besides Kamara are really weak.

I got Zeke and OBJ as my top picks. Brees as QB. Deedee Westbrook, Damien Williams, Emmanuel Sanders, and Michael Gallup were some other good picks. Vance McDonald at TE. Saints D/ST. Cam as backup QB. Breida, Olsen, Ballage, Pettis, and Freeman round it out. Butker at K.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

Final draft with my friends league, called team 1

1/9 Tyreek Hill, KC WR
2/16 Joe Mixon, CIN RB
3/33 Kerryon Johnson, DET RB
4/40 Adam Thielen, MIN WR
5/57 Miles Sanders, PHI RB
6/64 Robby Anderson, NYJ WR
7/81 Damien Williams, KC RB
8/88 Jared Goff, LAR QB
9/105 Dante Pettis, SF WR
10/112 David Njoku, CLE TE
11/129 Dion Lewis, TEN RB
12/137 Donte Moncrief, PIT WR
13/154 Chargers D
14/161 Sam Darnold, NYJ QB
15/178 Darwin Thompson, KC RB
16/185 Jason Myers, SEA K

Overall pretty satisfied with my team, except just missing on Wilson and Big Ben and having to go with Goff. Damien Williams was just sitting there in the seventh so I took him, and then Shady was there in the ninth, but I didn't think I should take a fifth RB at that point. I did double-up on Chiefs with Darwin Thompson later.

This is the least fantasy-savvy league I play in, and of course most everyone's picks are solid through the first four rounds with a few oddities (David Johnson went third overall, Mahomes went sixth overall, and auto-pick gave one team Kittle and Ertz at the 36-37 turnaround), but then it gets weird with a defense going in the sixth and a kicker in the 10th, and most teams taking backups for both spots. Melvin Gordon went seventh in the third round because the owner later said he wasn't up on the news. We were at a brewery, and they sat the 10 of us outside where they said the wi-fi was good, but midway through my ipad lost connection and I switched to my phone the rest of the way.

I think Pettis is the only player I have on all three teams because I took a late flyer on Darwin Thompson instead of my usual Malcolm Brown.

Glad I benched David Montgomery and now I am concerned if he is startable since he barely got any carries.
