Draft order set...#12 of a 12 PPR team league. No one has ever won this league drafting 12. That changes this year.

I don't know why people hate on the end of the draft so much. In my experience the value of #12 + #13 is more than say #1 + #24. I prefer to to be toward the end of the drafts, since it will give you a shot to land like top 10 RB and top 10 WR. You can't usually say that if you are in the top half of the draft.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

I'm gearing up for my 3 drafts. One tomorrow night, one Tuesday night and one on Labor Day evening. All are completely different types of league (straight points, non-ppr, H2H 12 team PPR, 12 team 2 QB PPR league). It's nuts are how different the strategies are for the leagues.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

My latest draft is 9/4, and the order hasn’t been set yet. I’ve been mocking at 8 and 11, so if I get #4, I’ll have to do some scrambling. I feel like the top three are pretty clear.

The problem with picking at the ends is not dozing off between picks.

I’ve been mocking on both Yahoo and ESPN, and it’s interesting to see the rankings differences. Nick Chubb is sixth overall on Yahoo but #22 on ESPN. And of course that affects the drafting.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

I had my first draft of year 12 team PPR:

1. (5) David Johnson (Ari - RB)
2. (20) Tyreek Hill (KC - WR)
3. (29) Damien Williams (KC - RB)
4. (44) Josh Jacobs (Oak - RB)
5. (53) Cooper Kupp (LAR - WR)
6. (68) Tevin Coleman (SF - RB)
7. (77) Corey Davis (Ten - WR)
8. (92) Drew Brees (NO - QB)
9. (101) Sterling Shepard (NYG - WR)
10. (116) Delanie Walker (Ten - TE)
11. (125) Tony Pollard (Dal - RB)
12. (140) Donte Moncrief (Pit - WR)
13. (149) Jake Elliott (Phi - K)
14. (164) Sam Darnold (NYJ - QB)
15. (173) Tennessee (Ten - DEF)

I'm not super happy with it. I had pick 5 and went with David Johnson. I was debating between Zeke, Hopkins, and Johnson. I went with Johnson. I wanted Robby Anderson in the 5th, but he went right before me since I took Kupp. The first round was weird. Mahomes went third overall. Kelce went 12th overall...

Got my third spot, and itís 9th of 12, so pretty much the same. At least I wonít have to worry about Zeke in any of my leagues.

Before yesterday I probably wouldíve taken a shot at Luck using a Rivers or Trubisky-type to fill in until he was ready. I have a history of taking these kinds of guys who are injured or suspended. A couple years ago, Zeke worked out great until he didnít.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

Here's my other two drafts from today:

12 team standard scoring 11th pick:
1. (11) Dalvin Cook (Min - RB)
2. (14) Odell Beckham Jr. (Cle - WR)
3. (35) Adam Thielen (Min - WR)
4. (38) Josh Jacobs (Oak - RB)
5. (59) Robby Anderson (NYJ - WR)
6. (62) Phillip Lindsay (Den - RB)
7. (83) Derrius Guice (Was - RB)
8. (86) Philip Rivers (LAC - QB)
9. (107) Austin Hooper (Atl - TE)
10. (110) Emmanuel Sanders (Den - WR)
11. (131) Tony Pollard (Dal - RB)
12. (134) Darren Waller (Oak - TE)
13. (155) Stephen Gostkowski (NE - K)
14. (158) Cleveland (Cle - DEF)
15. (179) Sam Darnold (NYJ - QB)

12 team 0.5PPR Start 1 IDP 5th pick:
1. (5) Nick Chubb (Cle - RB)
2. (20) Mike Evans (TB - WR)
3. (29) Antonio Brown (Oak - WR)
4. (44) David Montgomery (Chi - RB)
5. (53) Robby Anderson (NYJ - WR)
6. (68) Cooper Kupp (LAR - WR)
7. (77) Derrius Guice (Was - RB)
8. (92) Philip Rivers (LAC - QB)
9. (101) Austin Hooper (Atl - TE)
10. (116) Curtis Samuel (Car - WR)
11. (125) Tony Pollard (Dal - RB)
12. (140) Darren Waller (Oak - TE)
13. (149) Tom Brady (NE - QB)
14. (164) Ka'imi Fairbairn (Hou - K)
15. (173) Denver (Den - DEF)
16. (188) Deion Jones (Atl - LB)

I got Drew Brees in the 8th round on Friday and I thought I could get him there today, but there was a run on QBs and I missed out in both drafts. I had to reach a bit for Rivers. I didn't think I would get a decent QB if I didn't take him in the 8th.... I have been going after Tony Pollard as a lottery in case Zeke holds out all year or gets injured. He could be a top 10 RB if he ends up starting.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

Team 2

1/8 Davante Adams WR GB
2/17 Tyreek Hill WR KC
3/32 Marlon Mack RB IND
4/41 David Montgomery RC CHI
5/56 Sony Michel RB NE
6/65 Russell Wilson QB SEA
7/80 James White RB NE
8/89 Curtis Samuel WR CAR
9/104 David Njoku TE VLE
10/113 Dante Pettis WR SF
11/128 Minnesota D
12/137 Malcom Brown RB LAR
13/152 Josh Allen QB BUF
14/161 Daeshan Hamilton WR DEN
15/176 Matt Prater K DET

team 3
1/11 Le’Veon Bell RB NYJ
2/14 Odell Beckham Jr WR CLE
3/35 Amari Cooper WR DAL
4/38 Josh Jacobs RB OAK
5/59 Miles Sanders RB PHI
6/62 Tyler Boyd WR CIN
7/83 Christian Kirk WR ARI
8/86 Jameis Winston QB TB
9/107 Rashaad Penny RB SEA
10/110 Mark Andrews TE BAL
11/131 Dante Pettis WR SF
12/134 Dak Prescott QB DAL
13/155 Houston D
14/158 Malcom Brown RB LAR
15/179 Bobby Wagner LB SEA
16/182 Matt Prater K DET

For team 3, I liked my balance but made the mistake of taking WR value in the seventh and had to scramble at QB, including drafting my backup high as a CYA. So in the following draft, I got spooked and took Wilson earlier than planned. I’ve been taking Josh Jacobs in many of my mocks but in the second draft decided to scatter my eggs with David Montgomery instead. Took Malcom Brown in both as a flyer, and will probably drop him after Gurley puts up 180/3 in the opener.

Is Derek Henry going too low?

He was a beast last December.

My draft is this Friday and I have done no preparations at all for this season. Heck, I might unknowingly draft A. Luck. That's how unprepared I am.

I never read anything or do research or do mock drafts.

I fix my mistakes in the waiver wire

In my draft league, I'm probably going to need a RB come round 3 (I have D. Adams at 1.8, Godwin at 8.3, and Winston at 13.8 as keepers) and I'm dreading that he's going to be the best available RB in the late 3rd. I had him in this league last year and he killed me. I dumped him in week 7 last year. Nobody picked him up until the week after he blew up in that TNF game.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2019

Anyone in a "best ball" league? This is the first time I've heard of the format, but I'm intrigued. It's basically a simplified version of standard fantasy football. You draft a team, but there are no trades and waiver pickups. No worries about which guys to bench or start, whomever has the better game gets calculated into your weekly score.

I may sign up for one.

Iíve heard about them but never played in one. I can see how it has appeal for being less stressful. It could be a good outlet for our resident Derrick Henry fan, because you could put up with a month of his five-point games and not miss out on the 30-point games.

Yes. It's a good way if you want to play more leagues but don't want to devote further time during the season. So my 3rd league is a best ball league - and for much lower stakes.

I would really like to do a Guillotine Leagues - Fanball one year.

My 2nd draft, 12 team H2H PPR. I feel pretty well balanced.
1.(8)James Conner (Pit - RB)
2.(17)Odell Beckham Jr. (Cle - WR)
3.(32)Damien Williams (KC - RB)
4.(41)Tyler Lockett (Sea - WR)
5.(56)O.J. Howard (TB - TE)

9.(104)Dante Pettis (SF - WR)
10.(113)Jamison Crowder (NYJ - WR)
11.(128)Adrian Peterson (Was - RB)
12.(137)Dak Prescott (Dal - QB)
13.(152)Houston (Hou - DEF)
14.(161)Jason Myers (Sea - K)'

I never put much stock in Yahoo's draft grades, but this made me laugh. I got a B grade, was like 3rd or 4th, yet they project me to be 10th out of 12 teams.

He turned it around last Dec and said he he changed his running style so maybe he is a different RB now. I doubt Mariotta is going to be throwing for over 300 yards and 3 TDs every week.

I wish the NFL Fantasy Live on the NFL Network was on before the drafts started.

It might be BS but occasionally they do give valuable info on some of the guys that might break out in 2019.

You're shit out of luck if you have injuries. Season is toast. And again, bye weeks work the same as the higher point total. For example, you have 6 receivers on your roster, starting lineup is 2 wrs: 2 are on bye, 1 is injured, and the 3 others score 20, 13, and 6 points. The 20 and 13 point scorers will automatically be part of your starting lineup. If you somehow have 3 byes and 2 injured, well you're only going to get 1 wr's points

RB2 Jacobs
WR1 Hopkins
WR2 Godwin
TE Engram

Important Bench
RB Sanders, WR Kirk, WR Westbrook, RB Coleman, WR Washington RB Breida, QB Rivers, TE Waller

Some fool drafted Mahomes and Watson with picks 12 and 13

It seems like every year in my auction league, I go big on two guys, and then take mid range the rest of the way. Hasn’t helped me to more than a third place finish. One year it was Johnson and Zeke, and Johnson got hurt week 1. Then it was Megatron and Gurley and Gurley forgot how to play. I might just go big on one stud and see what happens.

I drafted him in both DVDTalk leagues and am hoping he can build on last year as well. He certainly was a big playmaker in college here at UW.
