Re: 2019 MLB June thread

I actually don't mind keeping the new homerun ball around - but MLB has to move the fences 10% back. That would create far more balls in play and would eliminate the cheap homers.

Re: 2019 MLB June thread

So your solution is to change the dimensions of all 30 MLB parks and eliminate prime seating in the process?

Re: 2019 MLB June thread

Mariners send top prospect LHP Justus Sheffield, who was the prize of the James Paxton trade, down to AA after posting these AAA numbers: 2-6, 6.87, 12 GS, 55 IP, 59 H, 42 ER, 12 HR, 41 BB, 48 K. He also pitched one game for the Mariners (3 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 3 K). He has good stuff, but some people think his size (6’, 200) will make him a reliever instead of the front-end starter that the Mariners were hoping for),

Angels DFA former closer Cody Allen (23 IP, 6.26, 20 BB, 29 K, opp OBP .383, opp SLG .628). So many teams need relievers that I’m sure someone will give him a shot.

I'm all for that as long as the CFL puts expansion teams in these stadiums.

Buehler has a no-hitter through five.

Is there a website where you can find out if Costas is doing a game on the MLB network?

What’s the deal with Goldschmidt (.255/.344/.421)? The numbers aren’t horrible, but far below his norms, and he has 0.7 WAR.

He did pretty much the same thing last year but then heated up. I bought tickets for this Friday night and the return of Pujols to St. Louis. I hope the Cardinals start scoring again because this sure is some boring baseball to watch.

Wrong side of 30. As much as it pains me to see him go, the Dbacks might have been on to something to move on.

Goldschmidt just smoked the game winning homer for the Cards, his first since 2016. Thanks for talking smack about him.

Re: 2019 MLB June thread

Dodgers win their 50th game in 75 games played. Only the second time in their history that they've done that. Not bad at all.

Reports out there that the Rays want to split the season. Start in TB, then play in Montreal. The fuck

Re: 2019 MLB June thread

Tampa may become a two city team(according to the ESPN website). Play most games in Montreal while starting the season in Florida(when new stadiums become available).

That's stupid.

I have said before that they should merge with Miami Marlins and split the home games either that or move to New Jersey(far enough away from Yankee Stadium so it wouldn't interfere with the Yankees).

I doubt if MLB would expand if they start moving team(s).

The As and the Giants claim Las Vegas as their market. You don't think the Yankees claim NJ?

What bout the Mets?

NHL has a team in New Jersey and two in NYC(if you count NY Islanders).

I don't remember how Oakland was allowed a team with San Francisco Giants in the same area while recently Washington Nationals infringed in the Orioles territory. Things still aren't going smoothly with Nationals/Orioles with the MASN dispute. Orioles want the Nationals to get their own cable channel and leave MASN to the loser Orioles.

Re: 2019 MLB June thread

What happens if Tampa/Montreal makes the playoffs then are they going to ship their home games back to Florida because of the colder weather in Montreal?

They want to keep cost's down and not build domed stadiums(I am all for non-domed stadiums) and playing games in Montreal in the summer while playing in Tampa in the spring.

Vegas is such a weird market. Dodgers /Angels/Dbacks/Padres also consider LV in their territory.

I saw a lot of him last year and think he's in decline. The bat looks slow at times. Reminds me of Andrew McCutchen's case, when a superstar MVP-level player's production slowed down when they got near 30 to where he's still a decent player, but no longer a superstar.

This is now two straight years where Goldy has looked awful for long stretches. The Cards should be lucky they only signed him for 5 years. Harper in Philadelphia is starting to look like a disastrous deal because he looks overmatched at times.

I'm fairly sure this is Tampa signalling their intention to eventually move from Florida. I'm not sure they'll end up in Montreal, but I doubt they are still in Florida in 5-6 years. They have some sort of contract with the city through 2027, but I am sure something will be done.

Re: 2019 MLB June thread

I'd rather have a one-legged squirrel pinch running than Flaherty. In the past week he stumbled around the bases to get thrown out at the plate as the potential tying run but instead it ended the game. And tonight he pinch ran for Molina at second to only end up getting picked off to end the game before even one pitch was thrown to Wieters. He even chuckled about getting thrown out to end the game. I'm just glad that some games don't count the same as others.
