I thought insurance would've paid it off even if he didn't get in trouble, though the salary cap hit would still be there. But if they have any kind of morality clause they should be able to cut him no problem I would think.

They never officially declared him out for the year. So I think they had slim hope he could come back by playoff time.

But, as far as I know, he hasn't had the surgery yet. He just got married last week and wasn't in a knee brace or crutches in the wedding photos.

I'm sure there is a morals clause that would void the deal with a domestic violence convention. Besides his $3.5M salary was a drop in the bucket anyways.

I just think it's a lot easier to cut a guy who does something like this who also has a season ending injury If he were healthy I'm sure the Lakers would be very quiet and actively "investigating" the allegations.

Re: 2019 NBA Off-Season Thread

The Lakers did release a quick statement about the matter

"We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously," the Lakers said in a statement Tuesday. "We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time."
I mean he's not going to play this year and it's extremely unlikely he will return next season since he's a FA again. I think they will most likely cut their losses and sever ties with him somehow.

D39's 1st IG post. I don't know if he just deleted all his previous posts because of his quest for starting over. He has 2M followers.

That would be kind of hilarious if Dwight has been like rebooting his Instagram every year because he's constantly starting over.

The Boogie injury sure helped to deflect a lot of negative media coverage once camp opens in Los Angeles. It makes you wonder if he will ever lace 'em up again after hearing the audio from that phone conversation.

I still hate the guy, but if this isn't photoshopped, I will admit I'm impressed with his Summer makeover

And I bet no future Hall of Fame player was ever so happy and enthusiastic to join a team on a short-leashed, non-guaranteed, minimum contract. He seems legitimately invested in this.

https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2019/...at-age-67.html

Sad news if you're from the Cleveland area. The Cavs TV play by play guy Fred McLeod died suddenly at 67 yesterday.

He was also the Pistons play by play guy for 20+ years.

Team Celtics USA just got bounced from the World Cup by France losing by 10 points. Ouch. Good thing we already qualified for the Olympics. Needless to say we need a better team for Tokyo.

So what you're saying is that a team with Derrick White, Joe Harris, Brook Lopez and Mason Plumlee isn't the best the US has to offer?

Seriously though, how in the world does Harrison Barnes play 31 minutes and put up those numbers? I understand stats don't tell the whole story but it's not like he's a defensive or intangibles kind of guy, if he's not putting up points I'm not sure what he's there for.

Re: 2019 NBA Off-Season Thread

This interview is heartbreaking. This is Austin Carr, a former Cav, and Fred McLeod's broadcast partner for the last 13 years. He was interviewed 1 day after learning his friend died. Forward to 1:15 to hear the interview.

Obviously if you're not from Ohio, you probably don't know them. But, I've seen them on highlights and they were a great pair. Carr gets very emotional during the interview.

Re: 2019 NBA Off-Season Thread

Joe Johnson is signing with the Pistons. Only a partially guaranteed deal, so he could get cut during camp.
