I believe Colorado retains 50% of Barrie salary.

Re: 2019 NHL Off-Season Thread

I'm disappointed. I really liked Kadri, but realize he did some stupid things, at times. Regardless, at least he stood up for himself, and his teammates. No idea who'll fill that role, now.

They also signed Jason Spezza. That'll be interesting, as it was a cheap signing.

They lost Ron Hainsey, a good experienced and reliable d-man.

Jake Gardiner has also been made available. I'll be very surprised if someone doesn't sign him. It's not out of the question for him to stay with the Leafs, either, but the fans really turned on him.

Sad to see Naz go.

Best of luck to him in Colorado.

Yep. I wish him the best, too. I'm glad he's gone to the western conference, though.

We'll be facing Hainsey and Tyler Ennis (another one I'm sorry to see go), with Ottawa.

They all have a good mix of division rivals and eastern conference teams. Unless you're adding opening night to the package, hearts is the only one that has the Sharks in the regular season, so pick that to get your boo on. Otherwise Clubs if you want to see McDavid. Clubs also has the Rangers and Devils, so you'll get to see Hughes and Kakko.

Clearly Spades is the answer. Then you'll get to see Matthews, Tavares, and (hopefully, unless things really go down the shitter) Marner.

That seems like a Toronto-biased answer. That said, it is a package that works for me (I still haven't seen Toronto or Chicago these first two years, and I would love to see the Stanley Cup Champs back on the ice). I'll make that one my first choice.

Re: 2019 NHL Off-Season Thread

The Knights put a cherry on top of their nightmare off-season by trading away KHL MVP Gusev to the Devils for next to nothing ( a 3rd in 2020 and a 2nd in 2021). For a guy who could help anyone right now. They were capped out and couldn't afford his reasonable asking price of $4M AAV. They didn't add a single player or get even a little bit better this Summer. What a bummer.

BTW : I got the Clubs package this year. Dates work better for me.

Gusev has been referred to as the best player in the world not in the NHL. As a Devils' fan, yes I'm happy.

The Marner situation is making me hate hockey.

It's very frustrating, isn't it?

I love Marner, and there's no way the Leafs won't sign him, but it's making him look greedy. The problem is, it's business, and you can't blame him, or his agent, for fighting for what they can get. Obviously, they screwed up with Nylander, and it's biting them on the ass. I hope he turns around next season and proves his worth.

What's really annoying me is the shorter term contracts. Matthews at 5 years is worrisome, and there's been mention of a possible two year deal for Marner? Yikes.

Re: 2019 NHL Off-Season Thread

Finally went ahead and bought myself my Golden Knights personalized license plate. Used a variation of my real last name, not my username. but this will give you the idea

We aren't required to use a front plate in NV and I don't have a bracket for one with my car, so I will put it in a frame and put it up in my man cave.

Cool! Love black license plates - I naturally have a White Sox plate.

Good to know if I ever move to Nevada I can still have a black plate.

^ Lol, That will become a collector's item, as I've heard Davis is changing the motto to "Commitment to Relocation" this year.

Thing is it hurts the team in the end. All the top end guys get the nice dough and then you have to fill the roster with scraps.

I don't think the Leafs will get near a Cup. Matthews will go to Arizona eventually.

My favorite sub-topic in the NHL? Uniform talk!

I like it. Simple but sharp looking

Those are pretty!

Golden Knight's altenate jersey coming soon! Rumor is it will be all gold colored. Will probably buy one.

Re: 2019 NHL Off-Season Thread

I think this is a day old or so, but it's been confirmed that the Sharks won't be signing Marleau. They do have some young guys in the system they want to bring up and that doesn't leave any room for Patty. The team is still thin at forward, so perhaps there's going to be a signing other than Thornton. As I understand it there weren't too many places Marleau wanted to play other than San Jose, so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up.

Marner finally signs with the Leafs for 6 years at $10.893M AAV.

Team is going to be crippled at the back with all the money going to the forwards.

I don't know why players don't care about that. I know their agents obviously don't.
