I don't think the upset itself is so incredible as hockey has the most unpredictable playoffs.. It's the sweep - that's unreal. And TB was up 3-0 in G1. Fanduel had a CBJ sweep 45-1 and another Jersey book had 50-1 (no Vegas book offered it). Not one ticket was written for a sweep. If you bet CBJ money lines from the start and rolled it over, that would have been a 55-1 payout.

The Isles were 18-1 for a sweep. Fanduel only wrote 1 ticket on that. I guess Trotz has gotten the hang of beating the Pens.

First round series often have some of the best hockey of the post season, that's why they often go 7 games.

Scratch off the "just happy to be here" teams, which oddly enough this year included the President's Trophy winner and the usually strong Pittsburgh Penguins, and you often have division rivals, or strong teams fending off an upstart challenger who aren't ready to play golf just yet. Also, the fatigue factor isn't there yet.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but this Flames/Avalanche game is some damn entertaining hockey

Wow, the Blues have hit a wall. Started back in game 4 and has clearly carried over to game 5. If the O'Reilly-Tarasenko-Schenn line can't figure out how to BE the O'Reilly-Tarasenko-Schenn line, this series might be over in 6.

Reminds me a lot of of 2017 against Minnesota, which reminded me a lot of 2016 against the Sharks.... seems to be the Blues' M.O.

Hope I wrong, but it sure looks like I'm not...

Going back to the 3rd period of Game 3, and it's like there's no fire at all in St. Louis' belly. Feels a LOT like the last two games of last year's WCF against the Sharks.

Mixed emotions. Bummed that the Knights lost convincingly tonight, but at least a little bit happy that I have awesome seats for Game 6 on Sunday-- Front row of Mezzanine, dead center behind Fleury.

Caps better find some offense and fast. Doesn't help that Oshie will be out for some time.

Sharks are 2-0 when one of their players loses some teeth. Strange strategy but whatever works.

As said by someone above, it's more of the fact that they swept them. Usually upsets go 7 games as the inferior teams has a hot goalie and they usually win a few games in OT (so the dominant team was just a few lucky breaks away from advancing). This series wasn't even close, as Columbus just steamrolled them, and that never happens. It really shows how irrelevant the Regular Season is (in the context of winning the President's Trophy). I remember the 1995-96 RedWings had 60+ wins and didn't make the Finals, and the next year they learned to pace themselves in the regular season so they are playing their best Hockey come April. They then won back to back Cups and 3 Cups in the next 6 years. In fact, winning the President's Cup almost guarantees you won't be winning the Stanley Cup!

Bummer of a goal there, down 1-0 now. My seats are amazing though.

Well, that was unexpected, to say the least. When I saw the penalty call, I figured it would be over, but not in that regard.
