The game will end well past 10:00 PM EST. Just sayin'. For most people, that is still reasonably early if they are already at home and can simply click off the TV during the trophy presentation and start getting ready for bed. However, I certainly recall Superbowl parties I have attended in the past where half the people leave and go home at halftime. If the game was not on a "school night", I bet most of those people would stay.

Bars probably don't want a Saturday Super Bowl either. Bars will do business no matter what on Saturdays - that's when people go out and get drunk. Throw in a Super Bowl crowd and you may be dealing with overcrowding or having to stop people from coming in. Meanwhile, on SB Sunday, they'll get additional business that they wouldn't get on a normal Sunday.
That's a good point. I think the best solution is to simply make the game earlier like Bill Needle said. The host networks are always promoting TV shows that come on after the game anyway. This way, they can promote more of them since they well have a couple of extra hours of primetime to play around with.

Saints and Chiefs would've made an interesting Super Bowl. The LA Rams don't have much of a fan base and most NFL fans have developed Patriots Fatigue. I'm thinking the ratings won't be that high.

I won't be watching this year but I predict the Patriots win and there are at least three bullshit calls that go the Pats way to help them with the win. The NFL should just give Brady his own flag to throw in case any of the Rams players look at him wrong.

I don't see the big deal about a Sat Super Bowl and it sounds like a dumb idea when nobody schedules their best programming on Saturdays.

I think it starts too early at 3pm Pacific on Sundays when there is still sunlight outside but I can fix that by watching the game on a hour or 90 minute delay.

I know that SNF does well in the ratings during the regular season at the later kickoff, but people watch the 4th quarter of those games in their pajamas and go to bed if it isn't a compelling game. Those games are not a major event with parties and all other sorts of hoopla scheduled around them.

I suppose much of the late start is about boosting the network's prime time ratings, where an afternoon bump isn't nearly as beneficial.

No

Starting games at 10am in the mornings is something that should be changed

Really? A 1:30 pm Super Bowl kickoff (vs 3:30) would ruin your viewing experience? The game would still go past 5:00 pm.

And personally, when I lived on the west coast one of my favorite benefits were the 10:00 am early games. I could roll out of bed and by the time I ate breakfast a game was on, And add to that the late games were done by 4 pm leaving time to go do something with my Sunday.

This was on a TV station in Pittsburgh. The producer who put up the graphic was fired.

10am is still too early and when the draft is in primetime the games should not start at 10am.

Imagine next Sun Feb 3 after 7pm Pacific the Pats might have 6 Lombardis and we will be living in a world where the Patriots and Steelers have more Super Bowl titles than the 49ers.

They will never be as good as those Niner and Steeler teams where the QBs took a beating and Brady gets a tap on the shoulder and it is a penalty.

The Pats except for Brady and Belicheck are devoid of Hall of Famers and everybody else are just interchangeable parts.

Gronk will make the HOF. Maybe not first-ballot given some of his stats (which are largely due to injury, not performance), but he'll get in.

You're describing all pro sports today. The NBA is just as soft compared to 20/30 years ago.

As mentioned, Gronk would be in the HOF as well.
But isn't it pretty amazing what they've done all without a star WR or RB? Sure, they had Randy Moss for 3 seasons - but they never won a SB with him... only 1 loss.

Instead, they have shredded defenses with 5'10" Julian Edelman, 5'9" Deion Branch, 5'9" Wes Welker, 5'11" Danny Amendola, 5'8" Kevin Faulk, and so on.

Edelman is ok but I don't think he is worthy of the HOF.

I don't either, but chances are Brady will throw to him about a dozen times on Sunday. Why teams don't double team him on third down, I'll never know. The dude always seems to get open.

The Niners had talent and expanded on the offensive scheme that Walsh learned under Paul Brown.
The Patriots have Belichek and Brady.
The Steelers had steroids and benefited from bad refereeing.

It all events out.

He's great at reading zone defense. Those are usually the plays were he's able to find the holes.

Like I said earlier, I think the game will be Rams 30, Patriots 27--on the condition that Todd Gurley and C. J. Anderson both have good games running the ball. They need to keep Brady off the field as much as possible.

I'm a bit of a Patriots hater (which is just natural for a Jet fan). I find the Rams to definitely be an enjoyable team to watch but at the end of the day I'll be rooting for the Patriots since I just have too much respect for Brady and want his Goat status to be cemented even further with this victory.

I want the Rams to win but my guess is the Pats pull it off. 26-13 New England. Goff throws a pick or he (or Gurley) fumbles on the Rams opening drive.

Rams INT. They needed that as the Pats were marching down.
