Pete Carroll will hold a press conference first saying how awesome the guy is and what a great fit he is and then he never plays a regular season down for the Seahawks

Not a lot you didn't already know in this video but it's still interesting to see it all spelled out in 7 minutes.

I don’t know about that, but the Seahawks like these talented head cases so I can see why both sides would find it appealing.

Apparently he accrued $100k of fines in training camp for being late, etc.

In other news, the Texans are paying Clowney’s $7M signing bonus so the Seahawks are on the hook for $9M this year. And they agreed not to franchise-tag him again, so either they agree to a long-term deal or he walks and they get a compensatory pick.

This Rodger Sherman guy is only 29? Looking at him I would've guessed 39.
The guy needs a lifestyle change or something.

Looks like there is still no major progress for Zeke

Also, Melvin Gordon is still holding out and the Chargers won't make any contract deals until after the season.

I think Zeke will eventually get done. Could be up to the wire for week 1.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

There has been conflicting info about Zeke for at least a week. Close! Not close! Close! Not close! All based on "sources". These tweeting heads need to STFU until a deal is actually done instead of peddling conflicting rumors because they all want to be the first to break a story. I love you Jane but that includes you.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Jerry wants to see how they open up w/o Zeke. If it was Eagles at home in Week 1, Zeke would probably be signed by now.

Hope they pay Dak. Not Zeke. In the long run.

Not sure what Andy Reid sees in Shady McCoy. Coach will be lucky to get 300 yards from him on the ground this year. As soon as he gets touched he goes down. That's $1 million for every 100 yards.
Buffalo was smart to save the $6.5 million to keep him. Devin Singletary is going to open a lot of eyes in Buffalo.

The Cowboys would win those first 3 games (Giants, Skins, Dolphins) with me at running back.

You would think. But the Cowboys have a dipshit head coach.

Colts put their money where their mouth is. Tear up Brissett’s final year at $2M (which would have paid him half what his new backup will get) and give him a new 2 year/ $30M deal. They didn’t have to but it’s a very nice good faith move and gives them a little stability moving forward. Seeing how much cap space they had and the fact that this is a front loaded deal, it could be a smart move. And if it doesn’t work out it won’t hurt them much moving forward. Hope he doesn’t suck.

Pay him like a starter and maybe he will play like one. The new NFL.

I assume they’re saving money on Luck’s contract except for prorated signing bonuses.

Apparently Gruden favorite Nathan Peterman will remain a Raider after he was placed on IR.

Yeah, that and the March roster bonus. $12M each. Cold have gotten both of those back from Luck but chose not to. Even with Luck’s salary they were well under the cap.

Like I said, contract is front-loaded and only two years. If they weren’t using the cap space for anything else(and they weren’t) I would rather it go to their possible “Franchise QB” to keep him happy and away from a potentially expensive and unpredictable free agency next Spring. Better that than the money going to pay for Jim Irsay’s next Clapton guitar. If it doesn’t work out, they’re only out like $10M for him going forward and still have, are you ready for this...$119M in cap space for 2020 as well as three of the first 60 picks in the Draft. I like this deal even acknowledging that Brissett might not work out.

You are right of course, I was being snarky. In fact, if anything this is more like the 'old' NFL before the rookie contracts change which essentially eliminated holding out for ginormous contracts before ever playing a snap. Thank goodness those days are long gone -- replaced by different disputes like those of Zeke and Melvin Gordon, but those at least those have a connection to reality on the field.

Man, talk about "clickbait" headlines. Yahoo has one now saying "Ezekiel Elliott headed back to Dallas", then when you read it, it just says that he's flying to Dallas in case a deal gets done.

Can't stand Zeke but he should get paid... so odd to see a daily Dallas headline where they are paying everyone but him (or Dak).

Sources tell me that the Zeke deal is roughly 6 years 90 mil, and will get done today.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Man has any recent NFL team had an easier opening two weeks than the Ravens get? @ Dolphins, then hosting the Cardinals. They might as well have 2-0 tattooed on their foreheads. Should give them plenty of confidence heading into Arrowhead for Week 3.

Well I don't think anyone expected the Dolphins to gut their team a week before the season started, either. We knew they weren't gonna be good, but they could have at least pretended they were gonna contend the first few weeks of the season. But you can't lose 'em all unless you start losing in September, I guess.

They need it since they don't have a NFL QB on their roster
