Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

I'm not sure an offense without the pro bowl RB/WR/RG and Witten can be considered 1st string. That said, the results of pre season games with vanilla game plans are meaningless, especially for starters. They are meant to evaluate all the rookies/2nd/3rd stringers.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Prescott and the Cowboys first string offense could only score a field goal vs the 2nd string Niners defense.
Blah,preseason.
But always a good thing to beat the Cowboys, regular or preseason. Lets hope the 49ers make some noise this year,it has been awhile.Longer for the boys.
Some on them niners rookies looked really good.

Clear cut example of "You can't fire me, I quit!"

He knew the Jets would bring in other kickers (I honestly can't believe they only stuck with one during camp), it was almost certain he'd be out-kicked for the job, and it was unlikely another team would sign him thereafter.

I'm not worried about the Jets' kicking situation. Kickers are NOT like QBs, in that there's maybe 15 guys in the world who are "elite". Quite the opposite. I'd say there's more than 32 guys who can do the job, and if anything some teams stick with kickers and/or pay them a lot more than they should.

Dak Prescott seeking extension worth $40M/year - NFL.com

Dak Prescott wants a $40M per year long-term extension to be the highest paid QB in the NFL.

But as Jane Slater says, it's just a negotiating tactic.

Is Brent Musburger still doing play by play for the Raiders games on the radio?

Dak knows he's Dak Prescott, right? I mean, they have a ton of guys who are stars are about to get paid... Dak is out of his mind if he thinks he's anything but a top 15-17 QB.

His contract expired and they went after Papa since the Raiders let him go in 2018

Papa also joined KNBR and Radnich and Fitzgerald are gone.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

There are 8 national TV games for week 2 of the preseason.

I thought week 3 was more important since most of the starters play?

^^ You're right... and they'll probably show all 16 games in that case.

How does Papa call Niner TDs?

Obviously when he was with the Raiders in honor of Bill King he would say-TOUCHDOWN RAIDERS !!!! It was embarrassing whenever a Raider TD was called back because of penalty(which happened often) or if the replay had shown there was no TD.

None off this matters without seeing structure/guaranteed money, but I'm betting he gets between 32-35. Is it too much? Yes. But for the zillion time, that's the QB market. In a couple of years, he'll be back down the list.

And letting him go? Come on man... and play an assortment of scrubs for x years like in between Aikman and Romo? No thanks.

That said, I would pay Dak as long as Zeke is out. Let see if he can carry the team without him.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Wentz is the ONLY person that makes Dak making 30+m a year seem reasonable. Every other QB around that salary has at least 1 ring.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Cowboys News: Everyone has an opinion on Dak Prescott contract negotiations

And I'm sick of hearing about them, even from Cowboys fans currently engaged in an all out war on BTB.

[old man yelling at clouds]
And what happened to just discussing, you know, football! But noooooooooo... This damn internet thing has turned all the sports fans into "experts". We now have wannabe scouting "experts, draft "experts", GM "experts", cap management "experts", etc... who seem to spend an inordinate amount of time insisting they should be micro-managing the team themselves.

Jimmy Garoppolo threw five consecutive interceptions in training camp today against his own defense. That's not great.
