I just read on ESPN that Eric Berry will be a post June 1st cut and that will save $9.5 million in cap space.

Apparently the Chiefs plan for fixing their defense is to get rid of every talented starter and use the cap savings to...sign the Honey Badger and nobody else.

Tyrell Williams to the Raiders....44/4 with 22 guaranteed. That's more than I expected him to get. Lots of pressure on Gruden/Carr now.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

I can't wait to see how the Browns manage to screw this up. It seems like a slam dunk for a playoff team, but it's still the Browns. Also, look at how many times have the Redskins gotten a bunch of big players, only to still fall short.
But now they have John Dorsey who built the Chiefs and is now building a powerhouse in CLE

Now I would definitely expect Al Michaels to stick around until then. That gives NBC the L.A. Super Bowl, so in Al's backyard. Plus Tirico will be in Beijing for the Olympics.

Bet that will be Al's last game.

NBC already did a Super Bowl in Tampa in 2009 so this is the better arrangement though it is going to suck watching a Super Bowl being played in the afternoon sun for probably most of the first half.

I hope Al does not retire after that game or gets pushed out early like NBC did to Leno.

I thought they were going to play the same NFL Total Access show with the OBJ trade and the Deion interview in a loop until the Bell news broke.

Did the Patriots even do anything? Yet, they'll still be in SB contention.

No surprise here. Amazing how bad he declined after taking the Jags to one game away from the Super Bowl to now probably being a back up if he's lucky.

I'd hardly say he "took the Jags" to the AFC Championship game. It was more like he was along for the ride.

No but they are going to play in Super Bowl 54 in Miami again so all of these free agent moves probably mean nothing but it looks like the Chiefs are getting worse

The Eagles are trading Michael Bennett and a 2020 7th rounder to the Patriots for their 2020 fifth rounder.

Agreed. Their defense and to a lesser extent Fournette too them that far.

It was enough that he didn't "Bortles" them out of contention that year, I think.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

In some of the smaller FA signings, K Jason Myers goes to Seattle, KR/PR Andre Roberts to Buffalo.

That's two of the Jets' three Pro Bowlers (and who'd have thought a 4-12 team would garner even that?). Hate to see them go, but kickers not named Vinitieri or Gostkowski tend to be streaky as hell, and you don't overpay them. Same with a 30 year old return guy.

Doesn't matter how good a guy is (Berry) when he only played 3 games in the past 2 years and he's 30.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Often hurt but much cheaper than Beasley, with more big play ability, can be return man,... I doubt he can provide the same 3rd down "security blanket" Beasley can, but that's why Witten is back.

Re: 2019 NFL Off-Season Thread

Don't they already have Tevon Coleman in Jerrick McKinnnon?

As for Bortles, I shit you not, I can see him signing with the Pats. He's just the type of reclamation project BB would love up there.

Paying for kickers sucks, but the Seahawks got burned by going bargain basement with Blair Walsh a couple years ago, and apparently have decided on a different strategy.

Preparing to back up the Brinks truck for Mahomes maybe? Are there actual cost savings here?
