Wait, is there a possibility Pete could retire? You know, we'd always welcome him back to college football (we'd even totally ignore the controversy over the way he left).

At his age it's always a possibility. Just takes one health issue. But till then, he's got the extension given he's still one of the best at molding a group a young players into a playoff team.

Personally I was never surprised at this season's success given they finished strong last year after losing almost all their all-pro caliber players. Think they could have went even farther had they traded Thomas and had not lost Wright, Baldwin, and Dissly for most of the season.

Not what I was saying. There are tons of articles about how Elway tried to get rid of him after year one.

The biggest issue on that team was the defense. Which Quinn is supposed to be a guru of. Sounds like throwing the baby out with the bathwater there.

And what top flight coordinators are going to join the Falcons with a lame duck coach?

Blank is an idiot.

I put Pete on before I heard about his extension.
Also had Bill Belichick on the poll.Just in case of retirement.
But to soon for both. I do not think Belichick sticks around once Brady
decides to retire, and that might not be for awhile.

And McDermott was also a bad choice for the poll. Zimmer would have been a better choice.

According to the fan boards, Hue is mini-Marv. And no, we're not hoping for him to become HC.

No matter how dysfunctional a franchise is there are still only 32 NFL head coaching positions available on the planet. Why there always seems to be organizations willing to embrace hapless retreads is beyond me.

Quinn is now assuming the role of DC next season. Without the injures they easily win 3-4 more games and are in the playoffs.

I think everyone is hoping for that Pete Carroll or Bill Belichick; someone who crashes and burns his first time as an NFL HC, but succeeds marvelously afterwards.

I often compare teams hiring coaches the way women choose partners (sorry if this is sexist); they'd rather have someone with multiple divorces, who's failed in every relationship, because at least they "know what's involved with being in a relationship". The experience is more important than the actual skill set.

Cards fired all of their coordinators, apparently. Cleaning house completely.

I mean, it's either a retread, or a highly touted coordinator, or you pay huge bucks to a top tier college coach and hope he translates well. We had several first year head coaches this past year, some did awesome (Nagy) and others flamed out.

I mean look at the Raiders, they had a string of guys as first time head coaches (Kiffin to Cable to Hue Jackson to Dennis Allen) for a while (mainly because they were cheap) and it was just one head scratcher after another.

Makes sense. I wasnít a huge fan of leftwich at all. They need a good veteran in there to mentor Rosen and unfortunately they have no one.

Outside of Belichick and a few others, it's pretty clear that coordinators are just as important now as your head coach. I think that is why Pittsburgh has been struggling the past few years to duplicate their earlier success under Tomlin.

Rosen looks like a spectacular bust to me. I would want no part of that job.

To play Devil's Advocate, Goff looked like a bust as well.

For the last six weeks he has gone back to looking like one. But there aren't alot of Sean McVey's out there who would be interested in that job after letting go of a guy after one year. They aren't getting a young guru. They will get a retread.

Please reference my previous post with Cardinals stats. It had nothing to do with him. All coaching.

Did you watch any games? Poor coaching and a terrible O line. Most Of the time he was rushed just to avoid being hit. I think with the right coach and system he will be fine

Re: Black Monday 2018 -- Which NFL coaches will be fired/quit?

Jay Gruden job is safe for 2019 (Redsins)I believe.Snyder is one of the worst owners in the NFL.
I think he wants to win,but seems like for every good move they make, something cancels it out.oh and fix that damn field.
Reminds me of a worse version of Jerry Jones.

My first prediction for a new hire. TB hires either Arians or Bieniemy early next week.almost have all my picks done for the other 7 teams.

Next up---McCarthy to JETS

I tend to agree. If he can stay healthy and gets into the right coach/system, I would be shocked if Rosen doesn't end up being at least an above-average NFL QB.
