Zags were awful, but if you're going to have a stinker, that's the time to do it. Congrats to St. Mary's.

Reminded me of '96 Kentucky.

That seems likely.

Re: 2018-2019 NCAA Basketball Regular Season Thread

The day of the year where my blood pressure is always the highest. The anxiousness and nervousness is starting to build.

Uncharted territory for Bucknell - having to play a conference tournament game on the road. Amazing stat - this is Bucknell's first conference tournament road game since 2009 (22 straight at tome). That's due to a combination of top-seed and early exits.

Looks like Bison fans should have 1/4 to 1/3 of the seats in that matchbox of a Colgate gym so that should help keep the home fan advantage down (plus no students as it's Spring Break).

Hopefully, the Bison bring their A game as they did vs. Lehigh Sunday. If Colgate can beat that, then hats off to them.

^ Good luck to your Bison, RD!

Do you think the Zags cost themselves a 1 seed last night? Imagine if Duke beats UVA in the ACC Semis and Carolina in the Finals. The ACC could have 3 1 seeds - doubt that would happen but it could and the case could be made.

Re: 2018-2019 NCAA Basketball Regular Season Thread

No way. But I don't think it's a big deal if it does. They'll be in the West the first 2 weekends regardless if they're a 1 or 2.

I've always found the 1/2 thing overrated. Most important thing is the draw and individual matchups. The 1/2 thing really only matters if there is a natural geography factor for the Regionals, so it means something for the ACC heavyweights, particularly UVA (trying to get to DC) and Kentucky (trying to get to Louisville).

That sucked. Home court so huge - all the non-power leagues should have it. Congrats to Colgate. And they'll be the heavy favorite to win it next year.

And no way TCU should be in the Tourney. That was pathetic even though they won.

Washington Huskies survive their first-round tournament game. Closer than one would expect for a 1-8 game, but any win is good considering their recent history.

Re: 2018-2019 NCAA Basketball Regular Season Thread

Pathetic effort by Maryland....getting run out by a Nebraska team with only 7 players playing a day game right after a night game.. Turgeon now 2-5 in the BTT. That's pathetic given their seeds.

They have no business being higher than a 6 and if they somehow manage to be a 5, that should be most popular 12-5 upset pick.

The FSU/VT ACC quarter was really fun to watch. Some onions shots by FSU to force OT and win it.

Lunardi had them as a 5 matched up against my Hawks as a 4. Sounds like something I should be rooting for.

No, and likely never will.

Be careful what you wish for. You'd get the 12 - maybe Murray. Turgeon has never beaten a single-digit seed in the NCAAs at Maryland. He did at Wichita and A&M. So much talent wasted.

But I really can't see Maryland being a 5. If Buffalo and Nevada win their tourneys, they should move past them and so should Nova if they get to the BE final.

Turgeon has never beaten a major conference team in the tourney. Guy could get outcoached by a small child.

He did before Maryland. But the rest is true. Terrible prep/in-game coach.

I missed that game entirely. Can't believe they beat Texas Tech considering how bad WV has been this year -- they are the 10 seed in a 10 team conference. Hopefully the Jayhawks will take care of business and avenge that terrible loss in Morgantown that as much as anything cost them the Streak.
Regardless, I think that KU is locked into a 4 seed. I wonder if Tech's loss drops them to a 3.
Kansas didn't look great offensively but played some good defense and beginning to come together as a team. Not at all the roster they envisioned at the start of the season when they were a preseason #1 team. Bill Self hasn't had an easy year (and has had a MISERABLE recruiting season to boot), but he's good at adapting and making adjustments. The current team is almost nothing like the guard-heavy team that was getting run out of the building in Lubbock and Austin a couple of months ago.

The bubble is shrinking between the Florida win and VCU falling in the A-10 Quarters (so there will be a bid thief there).

bubble teams everywhere had better keep an eye on the Mac game
if Central Michigan wins that's a bid stolen and Buffalo will get in as an at-large

Re: 2018-2019 NCAA Basketball Regular Season Thread

That was an awesome slate of games.

I was actually watching the Buffalo game. So good. CMU almost pulled off the upset.

Nova holds off spoiler Xavier. Love Phil Booth.

Minny beats Purdue.

at UVA. Blew their shot at DC.

And of course KSU falls.

If you bet dogs in that slate, you made out well.
