Not watching the Lakers game, but checking the box score with 8 minutes left, Lonzo is +22 and Rondo is -21. That's a pretty telling stat.

Will Las Vegas ever get an NBA team?

If I got to decide the next expansion then I would pick Seattle and Montreal(that would be a long shot).

I doubt if they ever go back to Vancouver but that would help with travel for Portland and should Seattle get another team.

Re: 2018-2019 NBA Regular Season Thread

The NBA signed some deal with MGM as their gambling partner, so they don't have the same qualms about gambling that other sports do. I'm just not sure you can really expand the league at this point, and if anything I'd like to see Seattle get the first shot if they did.

Butler basically decided he didn't feel like playing, but the TWolves still beat Utah with Derrick Rose scoring 50!

I just picked up DRose on my fantasy team like two days before. He's been having a solid season but I wasn't expecting this.

Nobody expected that. In fact, I expected Utah to win handily with Butler out. And it isn't like Utah is a slouch defensively, Rose was just in a zone hitting jumpers with a hand in his face.

On the other hand, the Lakers barely won yesterday against the Mavs, blowing a huge lead. But they did win, I think it's like their first win in a game decided by 5 or fewer points. Lonzo shot pretty well from what I saw, though he blew an easy layup. And Lance just passing behind the back to nobody as usual.

Forgot to mention the most shocking stat of all:

DeAndre Jordan, through 8 games, is hitting 82.4% of his FTs (28 for 34).

Timberwolves will rock Prince-inspired alternate uniforms this season.

This NBA season should be great! A lot of improving teams like Raptors or Pacers. I wish them to be in top 4

Report: Magic Johnson had a meeting with Luke Walton and isn't happy with the 3-5 start. But Luke isn't in danger of getting canned....yet.

Tyson Chandler being bought out by Suns. Will sign with Lakers

Tyson's old now, but it gives them a decent sized backup. Lakers are lacking in size.

It's kind of a homecoming too. He went to HS in Compton.

Re: 2018-2019 NBA Regular Season Thread

Huge win by the Lakers tonight. Snap a 16-game skid to the Blazers.

They managed to hang on after blowing a 20 point lead. The 3rd quarter was amazing, but they nearly collapsed in the 4th.

Rondo was huge off the bench. Also, Javale had some big blocks. Javale has been a really solid addition in the middle. Hopefully with the pending signing of Chandler, that will give some extra depth to the middle and some more shot blocking.

So if they cut Zubak, do they open a roster spot at that point?

Johnathan Williams seems like the likely candidate to get cut or get sent to the G League if I had to guess.

He's on a 2-way contract. No need to deal with his situation until his 45 days are up. I'd much rather keep him around than Zubac. Z has been a total disaster.

Z had a good game tonight. 9 pts, 4/5 FG and 8 boards

Beasley could also get released. They haven't used him at all.

Wow, that was uncharacteristically good; a vast improvement over his usual line :
DNP - Coach's Decision.
Yeah, I wouldn't mourn the loss of Beasley.

ESPN has an article wondering if the Lakers should have waited for someone like Robin Lopez to get waived instead - as if there's a chance in hell he'd play for the minimum for the Lakers after the ugly split his twin brother had with the team.

Well, tonight is a disaster. They just didn’t show up at all after a big win last night.

How do you let 2018 Serge Ibaka have a career night against you like that (only slightly better than letting 2018 Derrick Rose have a career night I guess)? Geez. And Kawhi didn't even play.

For people that only saw the final score (121-107), it was over by the first quarter when it was 42(!)-17.

Ibaka scored 30 three games earlier so it's not too out there that he scores 34. He's having a solid season so far averaging 18 points and almost 8 rebounds.

Rose is having a great season also averaging 17 points a game.

Ibaka had 20 points, 5 rebounds, and Lowry had 6 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds... in the first quarter (basically Ibaka outscored the entire Lakers team). I don't think Ibaka even played in the fourth. He hit his career high in basically three quarters of play. He made his first 14 shots of the game, the first player to do so since Shaq in 2006.

Especially if they were to sell version of the Heat legends from the past. I would consider buying a "Vice" #32.

The only Heat player I've ever liked enough to wear a jersey of would be Chris Bosh but yeah as an almost 40 year old adult I can't see myself wearing a sports jersey ever again. In high school I would have been all over it.
