So I guess with Rondo and Ingram out, Kuz and Lonzo will be starting.

Not a terrible switch.

Maybe the next few games Svi will get some PT.

I don't think you can say DeMar who? when you traded him for a Top 5 player in the league. Everyone thought that was a significant upgrade.

Oh man. So close.

They had a six point lead with under a minute to go and then the Spurs went on that run. Plus LeBron missed those two big free throws.

But man what an exciting end to regulation.

It seems like the Lakers are right there every game. Even an 0-3 start doesn’t sound deflating the way they’ve been scoring. Some defense would be nice, though.

Re: 2018-2019 NBA Regular Season Thread

Damn good game. Lebron clutch 3 only to choke it away by missing the free throws and the game winner.

Also, Lakers lack of size really showed. No one could guard Aldridge all game, I can't imagine if that's someone like Anthony Davis down there. Like Decker was saying all off season, I don't see why they sign someone like Beasley when an extra big like keeping Brook Lopez at the veteran minimum sure would have fit well.

There’s no denying that Leonard was the better player but a lot of Raptors fans were upset the Ujiri traded DeRozan who embraced Toronto like no other Raptor before him. That’s what I was referring to.

Do people enjoy players only broadcasts on NBA TV?

They are so annoying.

But they all knew they would win games. It was just a heartless move. But basketball is a business, and it's not like there's another team in Canada to cheer for.

We'll see what it's like next year if Kawhi leaves.

What's ironic about the Brooke Lopez situation was that the Lakers pretty desperately need size and three point shooting. I'm not sure he would have taken a minimum, though, and he wasn't very happy with how he was used.

The Lakers will win eventually but man I'm not so sure how long Walton lasts. Does anyone really think he's a great coach at this point? The way he handled Randle at the beginning of last year was bizarre, and even the constantly shifting lineups kind of messed up Kuzma a bit.

I don't know, Brook took the bi-annual exception at $3.4 million with the Bucks, money the Lakers certainly had available at the start of free agency.

I don't think anyone thought he was great, but the examples you give don't seem that crazy to me. I thought Kuzma hit a wall last year, not because of any rotations from Luke.

You don't think his rotations alienated Randle and Brook? I think his main weaknesses are his rotations and calling a play when they absolutely need to score, because last year either his playcalling was nonexistent or guys weren't listening to him.

Of course, the main thing for him is how well he'll get along with Lebron.

I guess it's mainly because I just got NBA 2k19 and the announcers keep hammering home how the Lakers hit a dry spell last year and none of the players really backed Walton.

I don't think so. Brook maybe more then Randle, but I attribute some of that to initially figuring out who the starting PF would be between Kuzma and Randle before finding out that Randle could close games at center.

Meanwhile. Damn.

I didn't like the fact that we traded DeMar but the trade only happened because of Kawhi's injury and his worsening relationship with the Spurs. There's no way the Raptors will have been able to acquire a player like Kawhi otherwise.

Now, will there be regrets for the trade if Kawhi up and leave after a year's stay in Toronto. There shouldn't be. DeMar did not bring the Raptors close to the Finals during his stay with the team and Ujiri had to do something in order to make that happen. I'm hoping that Kawhi will enjoy his stay with the Raptors and sign long term in Toronto.

Defensively, this year Raptors looks much, much better.

Re: 2018-2019 NBA Regular Season Thread

David Stern calls Pelicans GM Dell Demps a lousy general manager.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2...eneral-manager

"[Demps] had agreed to [trade Paul to the Lakers for] Kevin Martin and Luis Scola or something, and I said we can do better than that," Stern said, "... And the next trade was [to the LA Clippers for] Eric Gordon and Al-Farouq Aminu and what we thought was a really great draft pick, the 10th pick, which turned out to be Austin Rivers. At least those three and someone else [center Chris Kaman].

"But Dell Demps is a lousy general manager and none of those players are currently with the team anymore, and he may lose Anthony Davis," Stern said.

Looking really good tonight. This is the best I’ve seen them play in a few years.

Still one more quarter left, but it’s looking like the first win of the season.

A very solid team win tonight.

Lance Stephenson looked really good off the bench.

Too bad for the Suns now that they’ve lost Booker with his hamstring injury.

Re: 2018-2019 NBA Regular Season Thread

By the way, I’m glad the Lakers actually wore dark road uniforms for tonight’s game. Drove me crazy when they wore the gold ones most of last season.

Going to take me a little bit to get used to the new road uniforms. The black trim is so different.

When Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee can score over 20 points a piece against you... I dunno, I didn't watch the game but geez.

I don't follow the Pelicans closely enough to know if it was/is true, but Stern's candor is pretty bizarre.

It is weird because he's the one that keeps bringing it up. He already threw Kupchak under the bus earlier.
