Re: 2018 MLB Playoffs, Championship Series Edition
I think the Astros win handedly against the Red Sox in five games, six at most. Unless Sale does something heroic and pitch lights-out in games 1, 4 and 7, Houston's offense is going to overwhelm Boston. I doubt the Red Sox let Sale even start three games.
I'm picking the Brewers over the Dodgers. The Dodgers' bullpen is a mess and Kenley is a shadow of his former self at the moment.

^ So, just finished looking at the Brewers roster on MLB.com and you could say they same thing, doesn't make me think they don't have a chance at beating the Dodgers.

Difference of experience is why some people picked the Peyton-led Broncos to beat the Seahawks in the Super Bowl a few years back. But sometimes you win because you just have a better team.

Re: 2018 MLB Playoffs, Championship Series Edition
Last nights game was 4 hours and 2 minutes. I'm a lifelong MLB fan of 40 years, but I honestly don't know how you can watch these games unless your team is still in the playoffs. I may sound like a 'get off my lawn' old man, but this current MLB game does not interest me with these starters getting yanked in the 2nd and 3rd inning, and you just have a parade of relievers for the rest of the game. I'm not saying the analytics strategy doesn't work (that is another debate), I'm just saying it's not an entertaining game. The 'Trap' worked for many NHL teams and rode them to a Stanley Cup, but they outlawed it because the sport became boring to watch.
I'm not talking to Dodgers, Brewers, RedSox or Astros fans here cause your team is still advancing, so you have something at stake. But just as a fan of the sport, whose team is not in the playoffs, I honestly don't have 4+ hours to watch these games anymore. I know most people here still have their teams playing and probably could care less about my gripes right now, but MLB needs to worry about a national audience/falling ratings because I'm Gen-X fan who grew up with the sport, I can't imagine a millenial falling in love with this sport and these 4 hour games.

Re: 2018 MLB Playoffs, Championship Series Edition
I have been saying it for years.
Relief pitching is ruining MLB(thanks to Tony LaRussa).
Managers over manage and make sure they use almost every player on their team for every game.
Look at box scores from the 1960s ,1970s and 1980s and a high pct. of games were played with only one or two extra players were used.
If relief pitchers were paid per inning pitched( and a full salary at 162 innings) then guys like Boone Logan(is he still pitching) would be looking for work elsewhere.

Turned out to be an exciting game at the end!
I discovered that I'm rooting for the Brewers, but I did like to see the Dodgers coming back just to make it a more interesting game.

Even the Cubs/Indians G7 a few years ago....I got tired of it though I was fully engaged. Had to go to bed. Set the DVR in the delay and watched the rest when I woke up.
