Re: Bob Costas to part ways with NBC
So I never really held any particular opinion about Costas one way or another. He seemed a capable broadcaster and was just sort of 'there' for a very long time. Then thanks to his departure from any sport I watch or pay attention to I haven't thought about him for almost a year.
Then tonight I watched - or at least tried to watch - his episode of "The Big Interview With Dan Rather" and I have come to the conclusion that Costas is a very unlikable prick. I couldn't even finish the episode I could care so little for whatever he had to say. Good riddance you smarmy asshole.

He said if NBC got the MLB back he would be allowed to do the World Series according to a clause in his buyout.

I'm sure his NBC co-workers would be delighted to have him back though. I never caught wind of it before but after seeing this interview I scoped around and apparently Costas is widely known to be an extremely unpleasant person to be around. If I had seen the same comments a week ago I would have been surprised, but no more.

Re: Bob Costas to part ways with NBC
I worked for the NBC affiliate in San Francisco when the A’s played the Dodgers in the World Series, I can second that Costas was rather unpleasant to be around. On the other hand Vin Scully was great to to work with, a complete 180 from Costas.
I’ll also add that it is a joke that Costas is on the Baseball Hall of Fame as a broadcaster. At the time of his election he simply did not have the body of work to justify his election.

He has found a new home at CNN
I am in the minority but I will miss his coverage on sports on NBC
If you ignore the politics he is one of the best sportscasters of all time

Bob Costas has found a new network to call home.
The veteran sports broadcaster will join CNN as a contributor, CNN President Jeff Zucker announced Monday. He has appeared on the network frequently over the past few weeks to discuss live sports' return to America, and will continue to explain "what the future holds as the sports and teams we love evolve to meet this moment," Zucker said in a statement. "CNN's willingness to devote time and attention to sports-related topics makes it a good fit for me," Costas added in a statement.
Costas spent nearly 40 years at NBC offering play-by-play commentary on several sports and hosting the network's marquee broadcasts, including its coverage of the Olympic games and the Kentucky Derby. But he left NBC in 2019 after raising concerns about head injuries in football, saying executives wouldn't let him freely discuss his "misgivings" about the sport on or off air. Costas and the network parted ways in what he called a mutual decision.

Re: Bob Costas to part ways with NBC
Hopefully he will still be doing Thursday Night Baseball games on MLB Network with Jim Kaat, as I agree he's one of the best. While I don't agree much with Costa's politics, I respected him for speaking out on anything he felt like (He was one of the early critics of the steriod era and concussions in the NFL). I hate when certain athletes and commentators take a strong stand on certain issues but disappear on other issues.
I hate when people bitch about a product they are very well paid to promote. I have so little respect for him outside of his baseball PxP ability and opinions on baseball. I sure as hell don't miss him doing the NFL nor Olympics. I'll take Mike Tirico over him any day.

Tirico is ok but not in the same league as Costas and boring.

Costas and George Will should do games together. The booth would be the unchallenged pompous ass center of the universe and I could avoid both of them and baseball by not tuning into a single channel.

He is back on HBO with a new show or actually a old show that is back.

Al Michaels was on that show but had not had a chance to watch it yet with the NFL playoffs
