The all-inclusive 2018-19 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

Might as well start a new thread now that the World Cup is done and dusted, and the European leagues' openers are rapidly approaching.

Premier League clubs voted to close their own window at 5pm on Thursday August 9, a day before the first match of the 2018/19 season - the Friday Night Football clash between Manchester United and Leicester.

Premier League clubs will no longer be able to make signings when the season gets underway, but the change does not apply to other leagues, meaning Premier League players will still be able to move abroad - and at the moment to EFL clubs - up until August 31.

EFL Clubs have voted through proposals that will see the EFL transfer window close after the opening game of the league season on Thursday August 9, 2018 at 5pm.

Clubs will still be able to register players who ceased to be registered with a club during the period up until August 31, 2018.

Players can also be transferred out to a club in any League whose window is still open.

FL clubs will still be able to sign players on loan up to August 31, 2018.

They will also be able to sign players on Loan with an option to agree a permanent transfer when the next window opens up to August 31.

Liverpool finally made their move and have agreed a world record fee of around £67 million with AS Roma for goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Re: The all-inclusive 2018-19 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

For the 2018/19 season, NBC Sports will feature 150 games behind the NBC Sports Gold paywall, which means that there’ll be 230 games available on television.

Last season, NBC Sports advertised they would feature 130 games via the NBC Sports Gold Premier League Pass paid subscription service, but due to the way the matches were scheduled, NBC Sports ended up showing 150 games on NBC Sports Gold. Having learned from last season, NBC Sports will again offer 150 exclusive Premier League games via NBC Sports Gold for $50. Those games aren’t available on television.

While the big clubs such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal will have approximately four games a season featured on NBC Sports Gold, many of the supporters of other Premier League clubs will find that more than 50% of their games will be streamed exclusively via NBC Sports Gold, as we saw last season
.

Another change to the service includes the addition of a new series from Premier League Productions entitled Gary Neville Soccerbox where Premier League legend Gary Neville sits down with former teammates and rivals to relive their most compelling matches.

Programming on this season’s NBC Sports Gold debuts on Wednesday, August 8 – two days ahead of the Friday, August 10 kickoff of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

In addition, for the first time, NBC Sports Gold will be offered to commercial establishments.

Tremendous signing for you. While I don't think he is among the top three, he is on par with that second tier of DeGea and Courtois. Sad to see him leave Roma.

In tiers, and not necessarily in order.

Tier 1
Neuer
Oblak
ter Stegen

To me, these are the only three complete goalies, with a healthy Neuer still standing out.

Tier 2
Alisson
Fahrmann
de Gea
Courtois
Navas
Ederson
Handavovic

Tier 3
Buffon
Ulreich
Perin
Sommer (homer pick)

Sure if I put more thought into it I would come up with more names, and perhaps take some of these off. Then again, do I really put Casteels or Neto among the world's best? And how do we judge keepers like Areola or Muslera, who aren't facing top level competition weekly? Or what about some of the youngsters?

Sorry for the rambling. I think my list above is fairly good.

Interesting. ESPN would have you believe de Gea is the best goalie in the world.

Re: The all-inclusive 2018-19 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

I watched the 2nd half of Man U - AC Milan in VR on the Oculus Go. The resolution isn't quite there yet, but it's still a fun experience. Imagine you're sitting on the grass behind the goal, a little to the left or to the right, and when the action shifts to the other end, you're magically transported behind the other goal.

I've never had a better view of penalties, ever. You're at ground level so not great when the action is at midfield, but don't fret, there's a giant screen just floating in the air above the pitch, which essentially shows what you'd see on tv!

It was awesome, except they stopped the broadcast after 11 penalties.

Re: The all-inclusive 2018-19 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

Expected, but still fucking awful news.

B/R Live reveals pricing and plans for Champions League and Europa League coverage

Turner Sports has announced pricing details and more coverage plans for its B/R Live streaming service, which will be broadcasting every single game of the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League and Europa League competitions to viewers in the United States.

The pricing plans range from individual matches ($2.99 per game), a monthly subscription ($9.99) or an annual plan ($79.99).

With a subscription to the streaming service, you’ll have access to more than 340 live Champions League and Europa League games per season including everything from the Group Stage (beginning in September) through to the finals (in late May and early June). B/R Live also streams select matches from the Scottish Premiership, Belgium Jupiler League, Polish Cup and Swiss Cup. Bleacher Report Live is available online, as well as by downloading the B/R Live app through iTunes or Google Play, and/or via Apple TV, the Roku platform and Amazon Fire TV.

In a seismic shift in how consumers are offered UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches in the United States, the only Europa League game featured on television will be the final (on TNT and B/R Live on May 29). Meanwhile, TNT will televise 46 UEFA Champions League games throughout the season. That’s in stark contrast to FOX Sports’ coverage of the Champions League where they showed 146 games per season on television. For the Europa League, FOX Sports had 205 Europa League matches on TV compared to TNT’s one.

TNT is in more homes than FOX Sports 1 though. TNT is in 90 million homes, which trumps FS1’s 84 million households.

Speaking of the actual coverage itself, pre-match, halftime and post-match studio shows will be available on both B/R Live and TNT, with the lineup consisting of the following:

• B/R Football Matchday: One-hour pre-match show airing at noon ET on UEFA Champions League match days,
• B/R Football Halftime: Halftime show during UEFA Champions League matches,
• B/R Football Extra Time: A bridge show airing on TNT in between UEFA Champions League matches,
• B/R Football Postmatch: A 30-minute post-match show recapping the day’s UEFA Champions League action.

SEE MORE: Schedule of UEFA Champions League games on US TV and streaming

As of press time, Kate Abdo and Steve Nash have been already announced as two of the talent that will be bringing the coverage to you (with Abdo taking the role of host while she continues to work for FOX Sports).

Regarding announcers, all matches will use the world feed for commentators.

One of the biggest changes that soccer fans will notice with the UEFA Champions League coverage for the 2018/19 season is the kickoff time. Instead of most of the matches kicking off at 2:45pm ET on a UEFA Champions League matchday, they will be begin at either 12:55pm ET or 3pm ET, which will allow broadcasters to feature a double-header of soccer coverage (see below):

• Group Stage: Tuesday, Sept. 18, through Wednesday, Dec. 12, with weekly matches held Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 12:55 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET. All matches will be available on B/R Live, with one match per game window (two each day) televised on TNT,

• Round of 16: Tuesday, Feb. 12, through Wednesday, March 13, with matches on B/R Live and TNT each Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET
• Quarterfinals: Tuesday-Wednesday, April 9-10 and April 16-17, with live coverage on B/R Live and TNT at 3 p.m. ET
• Semifinals: Tuesday-Wednesday, April 30-May 1 and May 7-8, with matches on B/R Live and TNT at 3 p.m. ET
• Final: Saturday, June 1, at 3 p.m. ET on B/R Live and TNT

Live UEFA match coverage will include the upcoming UEFA Super Cup – Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid – held Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 3 p.m. ET, and available on both B/R Live and TNT.

UEFA Champions League action will immediately follow with the Playoff Round (play-in rounds), held Tuesday-Wednesday, Aug. 21-22 and Aug. 28-29, with all matches available on B/R Live and TNT at 3 p.m. ET.

SEE MORE: Where to find soccer leagues and competitions on US TV and streaming

All UEFA Europa League matches will be available through B/R Live including:

• Group Stage: (Thursdays) Sept. 20, Oct. 4, Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Nov. 29 and Dec. 13 at 12:55 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET
• Round of 32: (Thursdays) Feb. 14 and Feb. 21, at 12:55 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET
• Round of 16: (Thursdays), March 7 and March 14, at 12:55 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET
• Quarterfinals: (Thursdays), April 11 and April 18, at 3 p.m. ET
• Semifinals: (Thursdays), May 2 and May 9, at 3 p.m. ET
• Final: Wednesday, May 29, at 3 p.m. ET, on B/R Live

I won't care as much if all matches will be available as replays, but the above will still suck.

And we still don't know where the Series A will air. Bad news all around.

Grant Wahl @GrantWahl

UEFA Champions League will have 2 game windows on each group matchday this season (12:55 pm ET and 3 pm ET kickoffs).

TNT will show 1 game per window.

Rest are behind a paywall.
