And then another red becomes yellow after a review.

A dramatic late Daniel Ginczek goal sealed Wolfsburg's shock 2-1 win over Schalke on Saturday. After Nabil Bentaleb's penalty cancelled out Wolfsburg's first-half goal by US defender John Anthony Brooks, Ginzcek sealed a dramatic win by sweeping home the 94th-minute winner.

However, the game was dominated by chaotic scenes midway through the second-half at Wolfsburg's Volkswagen Arena as VAR interventions led to a flurry of card reversals.

Schalke were reduced to 10 men when defender Matija Nastasic was sent off for going in studs up on Wolfsburg's Dutch striker Wout Weghorst on 66 minutes. A VAR ruling meant the yellow card he was initially shown was upgraded to a red by referee Patrick Ittrich.

Weghorst was then sent off moments later for barging Schalke forward Guido Burgstaller. However, his red card was downgraded to a yellow after the video assistant spotted that Burgstaller, who was subsequently booked, had shoved the Dutchman over in the penalty area.

Wolfsburg took the lead when Maximilian Arnold's corner drifted to the back post and was headed into the top corner by burly centre-back Brooks on 33 minutes. The American defender then gave away a late penalty for a kick on Schalke's Swiss striker Breel Embolo. Ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Bentaleb, who had just come off the bench, fired home the 85th-minute spot kick before Ginczek struck.

Bundesliga TV Note - FOX will be televising Sundays Borussia Dortmund-Leipzig match - 11:30 am ET Pre-Game - 12:00 pm ET Kick-off. (Too bad kick-off isn't at 2:00 pm ET - would have been a nice double-header with the 4:00 pm ET Bills-Bengals game. Also would have meant a return of the soccer-football double-headers that FOX showed the last couple of seasons.)

That Barca game this w/e sucked. That field was terrible and Valladolid should be completely embarrassed to have anyone near it. Luckily no one got injured which I find shocking. Barca was saved by VAR as well.

Mou: strategically and tactically - United did not lose the game.

That was so damn stupid and unnecessary. It was a bad back pass, just clear it out.

Ugly win, but it's a win. Second half was awful.

The Henderson/Wijnaldum/Milner midfield is so underwhelming and lacks any sort of creativity.

Joe Gomez had a very good game today.

I really enjoyed Robertson's effort on his assist to Mane.

Nice to Firmino score his first of the year, despite struggling for much of the day.

DeAndre Yedlin scored his first league goal against Citeh to tie up the game. Very nice strike off of a beautiful pass.

Alisson commented during the week that he might give the fans a heart attack with the risks he takes handling the ball. I hope it doesn't happen too often.

Unai's Arse spends a lot of time filling around on the ground.

and who is the teenage sideshow bob that they have in the back of the midfield?

Brazililian legend Ronaldo is now the majority owner of recently-promoted La Liga club Real Valladolid.

Re: The all-inclusive 2018-19 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

You guys looked pretty good today. But the Spurs blow. I still think they will get top four by default, since the Premiership is so top heavy this season, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were out of the CL spots.

And Atletico continue their terrible slump. They were fortunate to escape with a draw today at home v. Eibar. That comes after a horrendous effort and loss to Celta last match. They look, i don't know, uninterested all of a sudden.

At least madrid fail to win, drawing with Athletic. Not a great performance.

Meanwhile, Barca deservedly, but incredibly luckily, win. Outplayed a tough La Real, but both goals were very fortunate after deflections. Overall, not a stellar performance.

But Gladbach imressed! I haven't agreed with the lineups, but looks like they will challenge for CL again.

Oh, and Inter...not so good.

Looks like there was a penalty at the end of Spurs/Liverpool that ref missed. I can see how it was possible depending upon line of sight.

Can't wait until the front three start to mesh again.

Keita has been impressive at times.

I was hoping Fabinho would finally an appearance since he was on the bench, but nope...
