Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

Does anyone think the XFL will try to get Kaepernick to play for them next year? That would certainly get some eyes on the league. Assuming he'd play for them.

No. If no NFL owner wants him, I don't see why Vince McMahon would.

According to Wrestlezone the XFL next week is expected to announce it's TV plans. Plus don't count CBS,NFL Network or Turner Sports to be partners since they are associated with Alliance of American Football.

It's official-The NFL Network will televise 19 AAF games in it's first season beginning Sun Feb 10th Salt Lake @ Arizona at 8pm.

Every following week will have prime time games every Saturday and Sunday night for the rest of the regular season.

CBS has two games next Sat and why not put the other regional telecast or the game you can't get on CBSSN?

The Atlanta Legends might be the only team with a decent uniform

Let the games begin.
2-9-19:

San Diego @ San Antonio / Atlanta @ Orlando

I am guessing there are 25000 in San Antonio on opening night.

Those are horrible looking uniforms the officials are wearing. Makes everyone look like they have a beer gut.

Didn’t realize this was on ...

This is SuperBowl quality football ... 6-3, all field goals.

Yeah, those referee uniforms are awful. Somebody trying to create fashion over functionality.

Wait a second ... he got up, put his helmet on, and kept playing?! Brady couldn’t do that!

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

I remember watching week #1 of the WFL and the games weren't too bad but could have been better.

I remember watching week #1 of the USFL and the games were very entertaining. I still miss the USFL.

I remember watching week #1 of the WLAF and it was pretty bad football.

So far watching the first AAF game and I would say its on the level of Double A minor league baseball.

Maybe if they let you get away with hits you can't do in the NFL they could use that as a marketing tool to draw people into the league?

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

Did CBS have mic problems during the San Antonio game?

Whenever the announcers talked it seemed like another audio transmission was coming in and cutting them off.

There are more AAF games on TV Sunday, if anyone's interested. CBS-SportsNetwork, 4PM ET and NFL Network, 8PM ET.

More people watched the AAF than did the NBA between 9-11pm . Nearly 3 million watched pro football compared to 2.5 million watched the NBA game.

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

I wish CBS Sports Network wouldn't schedule drag-ass College basketball before their AAF telecast.

It normally takes 20 minutes to play the last minute of a college basketball game.

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

If they want to differentiate from the NFL they should allow the hits that are banned and outlawed in the NFL and say the NFL is getting soft and if you miss big hits and collisions you can watch them here unless that is what the XFL wants to do.

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

They should have more different rules.

They should have a punt instead of a kickoff to start the game and after FGs,TDs and safeties.

Do like they do in the CFL where you can onside the punt if you want to recover from the kicking team. I think as long as you line up 5 yards behind the punter then you are considered onside and can go after the football(along with the punter).

If they are worried about injuries then stay home and don't play.

If you play football then expect to get hit in the noggin once in awhile.

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

They should also have uniforms that don't look like Pro Bowl uniforms. It wouldn't hurt to do some ticket giveaways and have more than a few thousand in the stands. Watching this Arizona Hotshots game and the sparsely populated seats makes me think of the home crowds for the Miami Hurricanes.

Re: New Pro Football League(s) Thread

The Salt Lake/Arizona game was the most entertaining of all the games this weekend.

Doesn't look like it will take much for the XFL to produce a better product.
