2018 U.S. Open at at Shinnecock Hills, June 14-17

TV the rest of the way:
Friday - FS1 until 4p, FOX 4-7:30p
Saturday - FOX 11a-7:30p
Sunday - FOX 10a-7:30p

Dustin Johnson currently with a 2-shot lead at -3 through his first 9 today.

Only 3 guys under par right now.

If there's a playoff, this is the first year of the new format. 2-hole aggregate strokes.

The course massacred the field yesterday. Should be an entertaining weekend!

Nice round (67) by D.J. Absolute bomb for birdie on 15.

Poulter had a nice round going - got to within 1 of DJ, but tripled 8 (17th hole for him). DJ is in great shape now.

2 guys I've never heard of will be in the final pairing Sunday.

Terrible course.

So our final pairing on Sunday will be two guys who teed off at 10-something on Saturday. You don't see that very often. Personally, I will be shocked if either Berger or Finau can keep their shit together well enough tomorrow to win this thing.

Joe Buck seems to be trying really hard to get Phil DQed. I do kind of agree, honestly. I have to wonder if someone nobody had done that if they would still be teeing off tomorrow.

Same here. No way those 2 guys shoot 75 or better on Sunday. On this course.

I really like the FOX coverage. I'll compare it to NBC (not CBS-Masters which is unique). A lot of shot tracer, less commercials. Need more Holly Sonders.

And I'm no Phil fan. Massive gambler - just admit it.

My money is on the Rose/Stenson pairing.

I watched some of this yesterday, and while you usually ear some crowd noise/comments ("get in the hole!"), in this case there seemed to be a constant drone of idiots shouting stuff in the background. Or maybe mics are just getting better.

It's the usual NY Golf gallery. Loud and obnoxious.

Just started watching due to too much other shit going on today. Clearly my prediction above is looking very thin now.

I must now root for Fleetwood's score to hold based on the awesome hair factor alone.

So jealous of that hair.

Bizarre final round. I was watching WC and tuned in when Fleetwood was on 18 going for 62.

I think Bruce just sealed the deal with that approach shot.

Johnson finally hits a good putt when it doesn't matter.

Captain Hair is officially eliminated.

Bizarre final day. Congrats to Koepka. Back to back titles on wildly different courses.

Uncommon for a U.S. Open winner's wife (or GF in this case) to have nudes out there, you know, so I hear.

Re: 2018 U.S. Open at at Shinnecock Hills, June 14-17

I think the USGA needs to figure out how they want to setup these US Open courses as it's one extreme or the other. Saturday was so brutal and some greens were unplayable that I think they watered the greens too much for Sunday and you get someone shooting a 63 out there. I still think they need to narrow the fairways more/grow the rough higher and then they don't have to make the greens like a parking lot out there like it was on Saturday.

Did Phil kill an endangered species this weekend?

The uproar over his penalty by the media was ridiculous. If Phil were a few strokes back and had a chance to win then it's a different story. But he was out by 10 strokes and was obviously using a loop hole in the rule to make a statement that the course sucked on Saturday. The problem with the rule is it's a judgment rule of 2 strokes or DQ, and they decided to only penalize him probably cause he's Phil. Just chance the rule that you get DQ'd if it is obvious you are hitting the ball to stop it running off the green.
